FV3-like ranavirus infection outbreak in black-spotted pond frogs (Rana nigromaculata) in China

Microbial Pathogenesis, 2018
In April 2016, an outbreak emerged in a cultured population of black-spotted pond frog tadpoles in Shuangliu County, China, whereas tadpoles were suffering from substantial mortality (90%). Principal clinical signs of diseased tadpoles were comprised haemorrhage on their body surface, swollen abdomen with yellow ascites, congestion and swelling of the ...

Murine Hepatitis Induced by Frog Virus 3 (FV3)

1989
In the course of a virus infection of the liver, hepatocellular damage may result either directly from the replication of virus particles in the parenchymal cells, as is the case in mouse hepatitis, (Bang and Warwick, 1959) or indirectly from the effect of immunological factors in response to an antigenic virus-induced transformation of the hepatocyte ...

Alterations of plasma lipoproteins and hepatic lipid biosynthesis in FV3-induced hepatitis in mice

Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 1982
Abstract The study of lipid metabolism in toxic hepatitis induced by FV3 enabled us to demonstrate, 10 hr after inoculation of a 100% lethal dose of viral particles: (1) A decrease in plasma lipid concentration, as well as a 50% diminution of nonesterified fatty acids; (2) An alteration of plasma lipoprotein profile characterized by decreases in VLDL,

Cool-Season Evaluation of FV3-LAM-Based CONUS-Scale Forecasts with Physics Configurations of Experimental RRFS Ensembles

Monthly Weather Review, 2022
Abstract To help inform physics configuration decisions and help design and optimize a multi-physics Rapid Refresh Forecasting System (RRFS) ensemble to be used operationally by the National Weather Service, five FV3-LAM-based convection allowing forecasts were run on 35 cases between October 2020 and March 2021. These forecasts used ∼3-km grid spacing

Challenges in Numerical Weather Prediction of the 10 August 2020 Midwestern Derecho: Examples from the FV3-LAM

Weather and Forecasting, 2023
Abstract A severe derecho impacted the Midwestern United States on 10 August 2020, causing over $12 billion (U.S. dollars) in damage, and producing peak winds estimated at 63 m s−1, with the worst impacts in Iowa. The event was not forecast well by operational forecasters, nor even by operational and quasi-operational convection-allowing models. In the

Ultrastructural and biochemical evidence of the trimeric nature of frog virus 3 (FV3) six-coordinated capsomers

Virology, 1986
Image analysis of freeze-etch replicas of cylindrical aberrant forms of FV3 provided evidence for three morphological subunits protruding from the six-coordinated capsomers. Negatively stained capsomers displayed both triangular and hexagonal profiles which suggests that their innermost portion is pseudohexagonal.

A temperature-sensitive (TS) mutant of frog virus 3 (FV3) is defective in second-stage DNA replication

Virology, 1984
It has been suggested that FV3 DNA replication occurs in two stages [R. Goorha (1982) J. Virol. 43, 519-528]. First-stage DNA synthesis is restricted to the nucleus, where the replicating DNA ranges from genome to twice genome size; second-stage DNA replication occurs exclusively in the cytoplasm, and the replicating DNA is concatameric.

Closing the Gap—Hurricane Prediction Advances in the U.S. FV3-Based Models

Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society
Abstract The Integrated Forecasting System (IFS) developed by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) has been regarded as the best guidance for hurricane track forecasts for years. However, the performance of U.S. models on hurricane forecasts has been catching up.

Generation of a long-lasting, protective, and neutralizing antibody response to the ranavirus FV3 by the frog Xenopus

Developmental & Comparative Immunology, 2006
Xenopus serves as an experimental model to evaluate the contribution of adaptive immunity in host susceptibility to emerging ranaviral diseases that may contribute to amphibian population declines. It has been previously shown that following a secondary infection with the ranavirus frog virus 3 (FV3), adult Xenopus more rapidly clear FV3 and generate ...

Erythrophagocytosis inhibition in cultured rat Kupffer cells infected with frog virus 3 (FV3): An ultrastructural study
