Das Flachwassermodell (FWM)

2013

On the Effect of FWM in Coherent Optical OFDM Systems

OFC/NFOEC 2008 - 2008 Conference on Optical Fiber Communication/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2008
We derive the channel capacity of CO-OFDM systems limited by FWM. Simulations confirm that Peak-to-Average-Power-Ratio reduction techniques are suitable for FWM mitigation. These techniques can utilize the decreased capacity to significantly increase the system reach.

XPM and FWM in OFDM optical systems

LEOS 2001. 14th Annual Meeting of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society (Cat. No.01CH37242), 2002
Summary form only given. Cross-phase modulation (XPM) and four-wave mixing (FWM) are two of the most important sources of nonlinear crosstalk in multi-wavelength fiber-optic systems and their effects are generally proportional to signal optical power and inversely proportional to the channel spacing. In OFDM and OSCM systems, the channel spacing can be

System Characterization of a SOA-FWM Wavelength Converter

Frontiers in Optics 2011/Laser Science XXVII, 2011
An empirical characterization of SOA-FWM wavelength conversion is presented. The converted signal BER was analyzed for OOK transmission rates up to 12.5 Gb/s and different input channel optical powers.

Four-Wave-Mixing (FWM)

2004
Four-Wave-Mixing (FWM), or sometimes four-photon-mixing (FPM), describes a nonlinear optical effect at which four waves or photons interact with each other due to the third order nonlinearity of the material. As a result, new waves with sum and difference frequencies are generated during the propagation in the waveguide.

Study of FWM effects in WDM system: A review

2017 4th International Conference on Opto-Electronics and Applied Optics (Optronix), 2017
In this review paper we have given an overview of FWM effect in WDM systems and studied non-linear effect that affects the fiber communication performance. Non-linear effects like four wave mixing, cross-phase modulation, self phase modulation, stimulated raman scattering and stimulated brillouin scattering.

Exciton–exciton correlation effects on FWM in GaN

physica status solidi (b), 2003
AbstractBound and unbound biexcitons in a free‐standing bulk GaN are investigated by time‐integrated and spectrally‐resolved four‐wave mixing measurements, where the formation of hetero‐biexcitons that consist of A and B excitons (XXAB) as well as A biexcitons and their unbound biexciton are clearly observed.

Algorithms for FWM-aware routing and wavelength assignment

Proceedings of the 2003 SBMO/IEEE MTT-S International Microwave and Optoelectronics Conference - IMOC 2003. (Cat. No.03TH8678), 2004
This work presents a study on the impact of the four wave mixing in dynamic optical networks. We have proposed two algorithms for routing and wavelength assignment based on the limitations imposed by four wave mixing crosstalk. When the efficiency of the effect is not very high, the algorithms present a good performance in order to minimize the four ...

Impact of PMD on FWM crosstalk in WDM systems

Optical Fiber Communication Conference. Technical Digest Postconference Edition. Trends in Optics and Photonics Vol.37 (IEEE Cat. No. 00CH37079), 2002
The impact of polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) on four-wave mixing crosstalk in wavelength division multiplexed fiber systems is quantified experimentally. The benefit of using polarization-multiplexed channels for suppression of crosstalk is reduced for links with even modest PMD.

Spectrum Sensing Applications of FWM-based Optical Cyclostationary Processor

Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2020, 2020
We demonstrate a large instantaneous bandwidth optical cyclostationary processor that computes the spectral correlation function. Post-processing of experimentally measured SCFs is applied for waveform characterization, specifically baud rate and pulse-shaping roll-off estimation of QAM signals.
