FWM-to-OPA Transition and Signal Power Increase in FWM

CLEO 2023, 2023
We examined the transition from four-wave mixing to parametric amplification. The signal intensity can be increased with smaller noise in four-wave mixing region than in optical parametric amplification.

RETRACTED ARTICLE: Conventional/linear/Lorentzian material gain semiconductor optical amplifiers performance signature with four wave mixing (FWM) nonlinearity in optical fiber communication systems

Journal of optical communications, 2022
This study demonstrates the FWM nonlinearity effects on fiber systems based on conventional/linear/Lorentzian material gain wide band traveling wave semiconductor optical amplifiers (WBTWSOAs) at data rates of 10 Gbps.

Experimental Comparison of Fiber Nonlinearity Mitigation: Intra-modal FWM versus Inter-modal FWM

Optical Fiber Communication Conference (OFC) 2020, 2020
We experimentally compare fiber nonlinearity mitigation by optical phase conjugation based on either intra- or inter-modal four-wave mixing. When adjusted for same conversion efficiency, both realizations achieve similar performance in 800-km dispersion-managed single-mode fiber link.

FWM Noise Reduction in Bursty Metro Transmission

Optical Fiber Communication Conference and International Conference on Quantum Information, 2001
We analyze the occurrence of FWM. noise in bursty metro network transmission of Ethernet packets directly on the WDM layer. We obtain more than 5 dB reduction in FWM noise for traffic loads less than 0.7 both for uniform and self-similar traffic.

A Comparative Study of Nature-Inspired Metaheuristic Algorithms in Search of Near-to-optimal Golomb Rulers for the FWM Crosstalk Elimination in WDM Systems

Applied Artificial Intelligence, 2019
Nowadays, nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithms are the most powerful optimizing algorithms for solving NP-complete problems. This paper proposes five recent approaches to find near-optimal Golomb ruler (OGR) sequences based on nature-inspired ...

FWM wavelength conversion with pump suppression

2006 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2006
A novel scheme that significantly improves the performance of FWM wavelength conversion is proposed and demonstrated. The scheme offers substantial pump suppression and OSNR improvement and intended for ultra-fast wavelength routing and packet switching applications.

Nonlinear Mechanisms for FWM

1985
A great number of experiments on OPC-FWM have been conducted in recent years. The optical scheme was nearly the same in all of them. The first reference wave was transmitted through a medium and then reflected by a mirror, corner reflector or a triple prism to produce a second reference wave.

Bidirectional FWM for Entangled Photon Generation

Frontiers in Optics 2012/Laser Science XXVIII, 2012
We propose a bidirectional FWM scheme to generate entangled photon pairs. Simulation shows a 49% increase in signal power and 33% decrease in pump power required to generate same signal power as in the unidirectional FWM scheme.
