Growing Operational Use of FY-3 Data in the ECMWF System
Advances in Atmospheric Sciences, 2021This paper reviews the data quality and impact of observations from the FY-3 satellite series used operationally in the ECMWF system. This includes data from the passive microwave radiometers MWHS-1, MWHS-2 and MWRI, as well as observations from the radio occultation receiver GNOS. Evaluations against background equivalents show that the quality of the

Overview of FY-3 Payload and Ground Application System
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2012The payload on board the FengYun 3 (FY-3) satellite series has been providing critical observations to the Earth, and the observation data have been processed and distributed to various users by the corresponding ground application system. In this paper, the FY-3 payload and its future development plan are presented, and its ground system is introduced.

The next generation GNOS instrument for FY-3 meteorological satellites
2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016The GNOS instruments are GNSS radio occultation payloads for atmospheric and ionospheric sounding onboard FY-3 meteorological satellites. The first GNOS instrument has been in orbit since September 23, 2013 when the FY-3C satellite was launched. The next generation GNOS instrument is being developed for the 3rd batch of FY-3 series satellites.

The Advancements in Research of FY-3 GNOS II and Instrument Performance
IGARSS 2018 - 2018 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2018Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Radio Occultation measurements can remote sensing Earth's neutral atmosphere and ionosphere. Meanwhile, another GNSS remote sensing technique named GNSS Reflectometry (GNSS-R) has been developed rapidly, which can retrieve sea surface wind speed.

Progress on FCDR of MWRI onboard FY-3 Series Satellites
2023A long time series fundamental climate data record (FCDR) have been developed using operational L0 data from Microwave Radiation Imager (MWRI) onboard FengYun-3 series satellites. This FCDR contains re-calibrated brightness temperature data from three MWRIs mounted on FY-3B/3C/3D satellites from 2010 to 2021.

An Alberta Cree Indian with a Rare Duffy Antibody, Anti-Fy 3
Vox Sanguinis, 1976Abstract. Anti‐Fy3, found in the serum of an Fy(a‐b‐) Cree Indian woman believed to have been transfused 5 years previously, caused moderate hemolytic disease of the newborn in her eighth live‐born baby. Only three examples of anti‐Fy3 are known. It is striking that two were made by non‐negro people, amongst whom Fy(a‐b‐) is extremely rare, and only ...

The recalibration of FY-3 MERSI reflective solar bands
SPIE Proceedings, 2014Medium Resolution Spectral Imager (MERSI) is a keystone instrument onboard Fengyun-3 (FY-3), the second generation of polar-orbiting meteorological satellites in China. There are three units currently in operation, in which FY- 3A and FY-3C were launched on May 27, 2008 and September 23, 2013, separately, in a sun-synchronous morning orbit with a local

Evaluation of FY-3/VIRR Sea Surface Temperature Data for Climate Applications
Journal of Meteorological Research, 2021We evaluated the pentad and monthly means of the sea surface temperature (SST) products from the visible infrared radiometer onboard the Fengyun-3 satellite (FY-3/VIRR) in the period of 2016–2018 from the perspective of climate applications. These data had previously been reprocessed by the National Satellite Meteorological Center based on an updated ...
