Comparison of the in-orbit calibrations between the microwave sounders on NOAA and FY-3 satellites

2013 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium - IGARSS, 2013
This paper presents the comparison of the in-orbit calibrations between the microwave sounders on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 and FengYun 3A (FY-3A) and FY-3B satellites using the ray-matching method over the South Pole and North Pole study area in 2011.

The calibration target for FY-3 space-borne microwave humidity sounder

2012 Conference on Precision electromagnetic Measurements, 2012
A general introduction is presented in this digest to describe configuration, operational theory and technical specifications of the calibration target for FY-3 space-borne microwave humidity sounder of china. The target with the temperature-adjusted function based on PID controller can provide the brightness temperature output form 90K∼350K and its ...

Spatial Resolution Enhancement of MWRI of FY-3 Satellite Using BGI

2015
Space-borne microwave radiometer has great potential in the field of space remote sensing and the observation of the earth, while it has bad spatial resolution because of the limitation of the antenna size. We choose Backus-Gilbert Inversion Method that used to enhance the resolution of FY-3 MWRI. The paper introduces the basic theory of BGI method and

The geometric factor of high energy protons detector on FY-3 satellite

Science China Earth Sciences, 2014
Geometric factor is the key parameter for inversion of particle spectrum in space particle detection. Traditional geometric factor is obtained through the method of numerical calculation with the actual structure of the detector as the input condition. The degree of accuracy for data inversion is reduced since traditional geometric factor fails to take

In-orbit performance of Microwave Humidity Sounder (MWHS) of the Chinese FY-3 meteorological satellite

2010 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2010
FY-3A (Feng Yun means wind and cloud in Chinese) meteorological satellite of China was successfully launched on May 27, 2008. MWHS (MicroWave Humidity Sounder) is a very important payload for measuring global atmospheric water vapour profiles. In this paper, the authors will describe the system configuration and parameters of MWHS.

Research on prediction algorithm of solar activity base on MgII index for FY-3/OMS

AOPC 2020: Optical Spectroscopy and Imaging; and Biomedical Optics, 2020
Solar spectral irradiance fluctuates periodically. MgII can describe solar activity and convert solar reference spectrum irradiance according to solar activity. In this paper, we first calculate the MgII, based on multiple solar spectra and construct a time-dependent MgII curve after considering the aggregation level of the curve.

Evaluation of daily average OLR retrieved jointly by FY-3 multiple satellites

2023
Outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) of the atmosphere top (TOA) is an important component of the radiation energy balance of the TOA. The Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERSI) carried by the FY-3D and FY-3E satellites can be used for OLR calculation. This paper described the algorithm of MERSI OLR, and the consistency and accuracy of FY-3D MERSI

Earth Radiation Budget Measurements on Chinese FY-3 Series Polar Orbit Satellites

2023
Earth Radiation Budget (ERB) measurement is one of the main missions of Chinese second generation of polar orbiting meteorological satellites ---FengYun-3 (FY-3) series. There are two instruments, the Solar Irradiance Monitor(SIM) and the Earth Radiation Budget (ERB), on board FY-3 satellite to observe the earth incoming and reflected solar radiance ...

Simultaneous retrieval of the optical thickness and altitude of mineral dust with FY-3/VIRR infrared observation

2012 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2012
Focusing on Asian dust aerosols, the Community Radiative Transfer Model (CRTM) developed at JCSDA under NOAA/NESDIS is used to simulate the effects of dust on the observations from 10–12µm split-window channels of the Visible and InfraRed Radiometor(VIRR) on Chinese FengYun-3A (FY-3A) satellite.
