Metamaterial Antennas Enhance MRI of the Eye and Occipital Brain

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A radiofrequency antenna platform comprising planar and bend configurations is developed, incorporating structurally integrated epsilon‐negative metamaterial unit cells to enhance MRI. These antennas enable high‐resolution in vivo human MRI of the eye, orbit, and occipital brain. Comprehensive validation, including simulations, phantom experiments, SAR,

Inverse approach to Einstein's equations for fluids with vanishing anisotropic stress tensor

open access: yes, 2007
We expand previous work on an inverse approach to Einstein Field Equations where we include fluids with energy flux and consider the vanishing of the anisotropic stress tensor.

Boosting Photo‐Pyroelectric Effect via Tunable Polarization and Interfacial Defect Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports Ba(Ti0.85Zr0.15)O3 nanocatalysts with enhanced polarization and oxygen‐vacancy‐rich interfaces for efficient NIR‐II photo‐pyroelectric therapy. Zr doping boosts the pyroelectric coefficient and accelerates polarization switching, while oxygen vacancies improve photothermal conversion and surface reactivity.

Exploring serial patterns in negative hotel reviews

open access: yesAnnals of Tourism Research Empirical Insights
This study examines the dynamics of negative customer reviews in the hospitality industry. Drawing on a dataset of 80,521 negative hotel reviews from Booking.com, we identify eleven serially correlated aspects of customer experience where current ...

Anaphylactic shock depends on endothelial Gq/G11 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 2009
Anaphylactic shock is a severe allergic reaction involving multiple organs including the bronchial and cardiovascular system. Most anaphylactic mediators, like platelet-activating factor (PAF), histamine, and others, act through G protein–coupled receptors, which are linked to the heterotrimeric G proteins Gq/G11, G12/G13, and Gi.

A monoclonal antibody against Echinococcus multilocularis Em2 antigen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A monoclonal antibody (MAb G11) species-specific to the Em2 antigen of Echinococcus multilocularis was generated for (i) further biological characterization of the Em2 antigen, (ii) easy affinity-purification of Em2 antigen for immunodiagnostic and ...

Multi‐Targeting Non‐Specific Genome Engineering in Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we provide the first case to use the multi‐targeting integrase (MTI) systems in bacteria and develop a host‐independent generalizable approach, MNGE (Multi‐targeting Non‐specific Genome Engineering), for multi‐copy and random integration of metabolic genes or pathways in both Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, which will ...

Thyrocyte-specific Gq/G11 deficiency impairs thyroid function and prevents goiter development [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2007
The function of the adult thyroid is regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), which acts through a G protein-coupled receptor. Overactivation of the TSH receptor results in hyperthyroidism and goiter. The Gs-mediated stimulation of adenylyl cyclase-dependent cAMP formation has been regarded as the principal intracellular signaling mechanism ...

Machine‐Learning‐Guided Design of Incommensurate Antiferroelectrics via Field‐Driven Phase Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The key to enhancing the energy storage performance of antiferroelectrics lies in regulating the phase transition and reverse phase transition. A phase‐field‐machine learning framework is employed to predict the energy storage performance of Pb‐based incommensurate antiferroelectrics with multi‐scale regulation strategy, thereby revealing the dynamic ...
