Abstract This study utilizes nanoindentation to investigate and measure creep properties of a barium calcium alumino-silicate glass–ceramic used for solid oxide fuel cell seals (SOFCs). Modiolin and phthalide derivatives from the endophytic fungus Microsphaeropsis arundinis PSU-G18

Abstract One new modiolin, microsphaerodiolin (1), and seven new phthalides, microsphaerophthalides A–G (2–8), together with 12 known compounds were isolated from the endophytic fungus Microsphaeropsis arundinis PSU-G18. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic methods. The new 3-oxygenated phthalides are rare natural products.

Hemoglobin-A2-Coburg or alpha2delta2-116 Arg leads to His (G18) has been found in members of a family of Sicilian origin. The propositus is heterozygous for hemoglobin-A2-Coburg as well as for beta-thalassemia, and family data indicate that the gene for the delta-Coburg chain is in trans of the beta-thalassemia determinant.

Isoelectric focusing of hemolysate from patients with diabetes mellitus is routinely performed to measure their level of HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin). For a 6 year old boy with diabetes mellitus this analysis showed an HbA1c fraction of approx. 50%, which is very unlikely to occur.
