Disentangling Metallicity Effects in Hot Jupiter Occurrence across Galactic Birth Radius and Phase-space Density

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We explore how the correlation between host star metallicity and giant planets shapes hot Jupiter occurrence as a function of Galactic birth radius ( R _birth ) and phase-space density in the Milky Way disk.

A Tale of Two Disks: Mapping the Milky Way with the Final Data Release of APOGEE

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present new maps of the Milky Way disk showing the distribution of metallicity ([Fe/H]), α -element abundances ([Mg/Fe]), and stellar age, using a sample of 66,496 red giant stars from the final data release (DR17) of the Apache Point Observatory ...

An Intermediate-Age α-Rich Galactic Population Beyond the Solar Neighborhood [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Understanding the chemical history of the Galaxy is essential for developing theories and models for our Galaxy's formation history. I expanded on the results of previous work studying the relationship between chemical composition and age in the Kepler ...

Surface Air Enrichment of Cosmogenic 35S at a Subtropical Site During the May 2024 Solar Superstorm

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract Cosmogenic radiosulfur (35S) is produced in the atmosphere by high‐energy particle interactions and serves as a sensitive tracer of stratospheric intrusions. In May 2024, an extreme solar storm provided a rare opportunity to examine atmospheric 35S responses to intense solar activity.

Carbon-Enhanced Metal-Poor Stars, the Cosmic Microwave Background, and the Stellar IMF in the Early Universe

open access: yes, 2007
The characteristic mass of stars at early times may have been higher than today owing to the cosmic microwave background (CMB). This study proposes that (1) the testable predictions of this "CMB-IMF" hypothesis are an increase in the fraction of carbon ...

Asteroseismology for Galactic archaeology: bridging two fields [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Astronomical Union, 2015
AbstractAsteroseismology has the capability of precisely determining stellar properties that would otherwise be inaccessible, such as radii, masses, and thus ages of field stars. When coupling this information with classical determinations of stellar parameters, such as metallicities, effective temperatures, and angular diameters, powerful new ...

Environmental and Temporal Effects on Vocal Activity in a Nocturnal Primate: Implications for Passive Acoustic Monitoring

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Primatology, Volume 88, Issue 3, March 2026.
Passive acoustic monitoring of the Critically Endangered Nosy Be sportive lemur (Lepilemur tymerlachsoni) for two lunar cycles revealed that vocal activity (i.e., call rates) increased over a 4‐h sampling window starting at twilight. The lemurs also called more as temperature and moonlight increased, and called less when it rained.

[C/N] Ages for Red Giants and Their Implications for Galactic Archaeology

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Red giants undergo the first dredge-up, a mixing event that creates a connection between their surface [C/N] and their mass and age. We derive a [C/N]–age relationship for red giants calibrated on Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment ...

Holocene History of the Lower Seine Estuary and the Commerce Valley Tributary (Normandy, France): A Palaeoenvironmental Framework for the Roman Landscape of Juliobona (Lillebonne) and Implication for Port Conditions

open access: yesGeoarchaeology, Volume 41, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT The sediment infill deposits of the Lower Commerce Valley in the Seine estuary, located near the Roman city of Juliobona (now Lillebonne, Normandy), provide valuable data on environmental changes during the Holocene, including sea‐level changes, sediment supply and anthropogenic influences.

Rangitīkei River Terraces Formed During the Otira Glaciation: Lithostratigraphic Type Sections, Review and Conceptual Model

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
The Rangitīkei Valley in the lower North Island of New Zealand contains flights of river terraces that are influenced by changes in sediment supply, stream power and base level associated with Quaternary climate events over the last ∼350 thousand years.
