Observational Constraints on Cool Gas Clouds in M82’s Starburst-driven Outflow

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Star formation feedback can drive large-scale, multiphase galactic outflows. The dynamical and thermodynamical interaction between the hot and cooler phases is a prime focus of both observational and theoretical work.

The Inner 2 pc of Sagittarius A*: Simulations of the Circumnuclear Disk and Multiphase Gas Accretion in the Galactic Center

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The inner few parsecs of the Milky Way’s Galactic center contain the central accreting supermassive black hole, over a million stars, and multiple large gaseous structures.

Weak In‐Plane Ferromagnetism and Electronic Nematicity in the Distorted Triple‐Q Magnetic Phase of Co1/3TaS2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Co1/3TaS2${\rm Co}_{1/3}{\rm TaS}_{2}$ hosts a triple‐Q noncoplanar antiferromagnetic state with coexisting Z3${\rm Z}_3$ electronic nematicity. We report rotational hysteresis observed in both magnetoresistance and magnetic torque, revealing strongly pinned in‐plane weak ferromagnetic moments in the triple‐Q phase and the magnetism‐driven nature of ...

Oscillatory Line-driven Winds: The Role of Atmospheric Stratification

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Time-dependent numerical studies of line-driven winds using the Sobolev approximation have a history spanning over three decades. In many of these studies, the wind solutions display notorious oscillations. Two clues suggest the oscillations originate at

Weakly‐Coordinating Non‐Fluorinated Diluents for Local High‐Concentration Electrolytes in Advanced Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective critically evaluates non‐fluorinated diluents in local high‐concentration electrolytes, categorizing their solvation behavior, interfacial mechanisms, and sustainability potential to guide future electrolyte design for lithium metal batteries.

On the Transition from Efficient to Inefficient Line Driving in Irradiated Flows

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Observations of ionized outflows from active galactic nuclei (AGNs) provide evidence of energy and momentum transfer from the AGN radiation to the plasma. The AGN radiation is very energetic.

Clumpy stellar winds and the obscuration of active galactic nuclei

open access: yes, 2007
The role of star-formation driven outflows in the obscuration of the central source in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) is discussed. The outflow from a sub-parsec scale accretion disc is numerically modelled for parameters appropriate to the Galactic Centre.

Full Vectorial Field Sensing Using Liquid Crystal Droplet Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An inkjet‐printed liquid crystal droplet array enables compact, low‐cost, single‐shot sensing of the full vectorial light field. Within a single platform, it simultaneously retrieves intensity, polarization, and phase, while dual‐wavelength operation highlights its capability for multi‐wavelength optical field characterization. ABSTRACT Determining the

The Galactic center wind

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1992
The combined effect of winds from a cluster of stars in the central 0.8 pc of the Galaxy is modeled as uniform power and mass input over the central region. The flow becomes supersonic outside the central region, and the expected decrease in pressure is in approximate accord with observations.

Particle acceleration and multimessenger emission from starburst-driven galactic winds

open access: yes, 2022
International audienceThe enhanced star-forming activity, typical of starburst galaxies, powers strong galactic winds expanding on kiloparsec (kpc) scales and characterized by bubble structures.
