ABSTRACT Well-resolved galaxy clusters often show a large-scale quasi-spiral structure in deprojected density ρ and temperature T fields, delineated by a tangential discontinuity known as a cold front, superimposed on a universal radial entropy profile with a linear K(r) ∝ Tρ−2/3 ∝ r adiabat.

INTRACLUSTER MEDIUM ENTROPY PROFILES FOR A CHANDRA ARCHIVAL SAMPLE OF GALAXY CLUSTERS
We present radial entropy profiles of the intracluster medium (ICM) for a collection of 239 clusters taken from the Chandra X-ray Observatory's Data Archive. Entropy is of great interest because it controls ICM global properties and records the thermal history of a cluster.

ABSTRACT Using high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations of idealized galaxy clusters, we study the interaction between the brightest cluster galaxy, its supermassive black hole (BH), and the intracluster medium (ICM). We create initial conditions for which the ICM is in hydrostatic equilibrium within the gravitational potential from ...

GALAXY CLUSTERS IN THESWIFT/BURST ALERT TELESCOPE ERA: HARD X-RAYS IN THE INTRACLUSTER MEDIUM [PDF]
We report the detection of 10 clusters of galaxies in the ongoing Swift/Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) all-sky survey. This sample, which mostly comprises merging clusters, was serendipitously detected in the 15-55 keV band. We use the BAT sample to investigate the presence of excess hard X-rays above the thermal emission.

ADAPTIVELY REFINED LARGE EDDY SIMULATIONS OF A GALAXY CLUSTER: TURBULENCE MODELING AND THE PHYSICS OF THE INTRACLUSTER MEDIUM [PDF]
We present a numerical scheme for modeling unresolved turbulence in cosmological adaptive mesh refinement codes. As a first application, we study the evolution of turbulence in the intracluster medium (ICM) and in the core of a galaxy cluster. Simulations with and without subgrid scale (SGS) model are compared in detail.

Iron abundances and heating of the intracluster medium in hydrodynamical simulations of galaxy clusters [PDF]
Results from a large set of hydrodynamical smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) simulations of galaxy clusters in a flat ΛCDM cosmology are used to investigate the metal enrichment and heating of the intracluster medium (ICM). The physical modelling of the gas includes radiative cooling, star formation, energy feedback and metal enrichment which ...

SDSS-C4 3028: the Nearest Blue Galaxy Cluster Devoid of an Intracluster Medium
SDSS-C4 3028 is a galaxy cluster at z = 0.061 , notable for its unusually high fraction of star-forming galaxies with 19 star-forming and 11 quiescent ...

Measuring the intracluster medium velocity structure within the A3266 galaxy cluster
We present a detailed analysis of the velocity structure of the hot intracluster medium (ICM) within the A3266 galaxy cluster, including new observations taken between June and November 2023. Firstly, morphological structures within the galaxy cluster were examined using a Gaussian gradient magnitude (GGM) and an adaptively smoothed GGM filter applied ...
