INTERACTIONS OF GALAXIES IN THE GALAXY CLUSTER ENVIRONMENT [PDF]
We study the dependence of galaxy properties on the clustercentric radius and the environment attributed to the nearest neighbor galaxy using the SDSS galaxies associated with the Abell galaxy clusters. We find that there exists a characteristic scale where the properties of galaxies suddenly start to depend on the clustercentric radius at fixed ...

Radio Diagnostics of Galaxy Interactions [PDF]
The Hickson Compact Groups (Hickson 1982) are relatively isolated systems of galaxies with projected separations comparable to the diameters of the galaxies themselves and are an ideal laboratory for the study of the effects of interactions on the various properties of galaxies.

Triggering Star Formation by Galaxy-Galaxy Interactions [PDF]
We analyzed the effects of having a close companion on the star formation activity of galaxies in the 8K galaxy pair catalog selected from the 2dFGRS. We found that, statistically, galaxies with rp < 25h−1 kpc and ΔV < 100km s−1 have enhanced star formation with respect to isolated galaxies with the same luminosity and redshift distribution.

Galaxy Zoo: Mergers – Dynamical models of interacting galaxies [PDF]
The dynamical history of most merging galaxies is not well understood. Correlations between galaxy interaction and star formation have been found in previous studies, but require the context of the physical history of merging systems for full insight into the processes that lead to enhanced star formation.

Galaxy Zoo: quantifying morphological indicators of galaxy interaction★ [PDF]
We use Galaxy Zoo 2 visual classifications to study the morphological signatures of interaction between similar-mass galaxy pairs in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We find that many observable features correlate with projected pair separation; not only obvious indicators of merging, disturbance and tidal tails, but also more regular features, such as ...

Galaxy Interactions: The Hi Signature [PDF]
HI observations are an excellent tool for investigating tidal interactions. Ongoing major and minor interactions which can lead to traumatic mergers or to accretion and the triggering of star formation, show distinct HI signatures. Interactions and mergers in the recent past can also be recognized in the HI structure and kinematics.

The SEDs of interacting galaxies [PDF]
AbstractThe evolution of galaxies is greatly influenced by their interactions. As part of a program to study interacting galaxies, we have measured and modeled the spectral energy distributions (SEDs) from the ultraviolet (UV) to the far-infrared (FIR).

Hidden Interaction in SBO galaxies [PDF]
Galaxies, like plants, show a large variety of grafts: an individual of some type connects physically with a neighborhood of same or different type. The effects of these interactions between galaxies have a broad range of morphologies depending, among other quantities, on the distance of the closest approach between systems and the relative size of the
