The luminosity function of galaxies in the Hercules cluster [PDF]
We have imaged $\sim$ 1 deg$^{2}$ in the V-band in the direction of the Hercules Cluster (Abell 2151). The data are used to compute for the first time the luminosity function (LF) of galaxies in the cluster down to the dwarf regime (M$_{lim}$ $\sim$ -13.85).

What Shapes the Luminosity Function of Galaxies? [PDF]
We investigate the physical mechanisms that shape the luminosity function. Beginning with the mass function of dark matter halos, we show how gas cooling, photoionization, feedback, merging and thermal conduction affect the shape of the luminosity function.

The Luminosity Function of QSO Host Galaxies [PDF]
We report on results from H band imaging observations of a complete sample of high-luminosity low-redshift QSOs. The luminosity function of QSO hosts is similar in shape to that of normal galaxies, although offset in normalisation by a factor of 10^(-4).

Luminosity functions of cluster galaxies [PDF]
We derive NUV luminosity functions for 6471 NUV detected galaxies in 28 0.02 < z < 0.08 clusters and consider their dependence on cluster properties. We consider optically red and blue galaxies and explore how their NUV LFs vary in several cluster subsamples, selected to best show the influence of environment.

The Imprint of Cosmic Reionization on the Luminosity Function of Galaxies [PDF]
Abstract The (re)ionization of hydrogen in the early universe has a profound effect on the formation of the first galaxies: by raising the gas temperature and pressure, it prevents gas from cooling into small halos, thus affecting the abundance of present-day small galaxies.

Luminosity function for galaxy clusters [PDF]
AbstractWe constructed and studied the luminosity function of 6188 galaxy clusters. This was performed by counting brightness of galaxies belonging to clusters in the PF catalogue, taking galaxy data from MRSS. Our result shows that the investigated structures are characterized by a luminosity function different from that of optical galaxies and ...

The luminosity function of ringed galaxies
ABSTRACT We perform an analysis of the luminosity functions (LFs) of two types of ringed galaxies – polar-ring galaxies and collisional ring galaxies – using data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). Both classes of galaxies were formed as a result of interaction with their environment and they are very rare objects.
