On the origin of the galaxy luminosity function [PDF]
Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2004 Evidence is summarized that suggests that when a protogalaxy collapses, a fraction $f$ of its gas fails to heat to the virial temperature, where $f$ is large for haloes less massive than the value $M^*$ associated with $L^*$ galaxies. Stars and galaxies form only from the cool gas fraction.

Gastroschisis‐Like Defect in a Crossbred Bovine Calf: Anatomical, Clinical and Surgical Perspectives
Veterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, November 2026.A gastroschisis‐like defect was observed in a one‐day‐old, crossbred bovine calf with evisceration of the pyloric abomasum and small intestine, likely resulting from prenatal rupture of an omphalocele. The calf presented with lethargy, hypothermia and metabolic derangements, along with elevated renal biomarkers.
