DESI DR2 Galaxy luminosity functions
ABSTRACT We present galaxy luminosity functions (LFs) for the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) DR2 Bright Galaxy Survey (BGS) in the g, r, z, and $w1$ bands over $0.002\lt z\lt 0.6$. Our analysis uses updated k-corrections and evolutionary corrections, including new polynomial kcorrection fits derived from BGS Year 1 data ...

A Solar Analog Model for Decrease in Far Ultraviolet Irradiance Under a Grand Minimum
Abstract Solar analog field stars having a range of magnetic activity can provide an estimate of solar spectral irradiance (SSI) variability relevant to understanding the Sun's influence on terrestrial climate. This approach is particularly useful for far ultraviolet (FUV) irradiance that cannot be observed from the Earth surface.

Abstract In this work we investigate how ionization from Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCRs) can affect aerosol nucleation on Neptune and discuss potential implications for the observed brightness variations that appear to follow the solar cycle. We calculate the planetary vertical cutoff rigidity for Neptune based on the O8 ${\mathrm{O}}_{8}$ magnetic field ...

ABSTRACT The current trend of individualized food items (nutrient content and flavor) can be particularly valuable to support people's health and well‐being in isolated environments where access to fresh foods and diverse nutrition is difficult. At the same time, bioactive compounds and micronutrients can be employed to countermeasure any health ...

Luminosity function of the field galaxies [PDF]
The Schmidt method for constructing the luminosity function of galaxies is generalized to include the dependence of the density of galaxies on distance in the near universe. The logarithmic luminosity function (LLF) of the field galaxies as a function of morphological type is constructed.

Biofilm extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) in Stenotrophomonas bentonitica BII‐R7 direct the formation of crystalline trigonal selenium nanorods. Comparative genomics identifies a unique genetic toolkit underpinning EPS composition and metal resilience, positioning this strain as a platform for bioremediation and green nanomaterial synthesis ...

The Great Cosmic Silence: What Does the Fermi Paradox Tell About the Future of Humanity?
ABSTRACT This article examines how institutional time horizons shape the long‐term survival prospects of human technological civilisation. While research on global catastrophic and existential risks has expanded, the temporal structures of political‐economic institutions remain underexamined.

ABSTRACT Philosophers often characterize perception as image‐like. There is little agreement, however, about what constitutes an imagistic or iconic representation. This article identifies five signature properties of iconic representations endorsed in the philosophical and scientific literature: item‐richness, feature‐richness, spatiotemporal ...

A NEW LUMINOSITY FUNCTION FOR GALAXIES AS GIVEN BY THE MASS-LUMINOSITY RELATIONSHIP [PDF]
The search for a luminosity function for galaxies both alternative or companion to a Schechter function is a key problem in the reduction of data from catalogs of galaxies. Two luminosity functions for galaxies can be built starting from two distributions of mass as given by the fragmentation. A first overall distribution function is the Kiang function
