EXTERNAL MASS ACCUMULATION ONTO CORE POTENTIALS: IMPLICATIONS FOR STAR CLUSTERS, GALAXIES, AND GALAXY CLUSTERS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Accretion studies have been focused on the flow around bodies with point mass gravitational potentials, but few general results are available for non-point mass distributions.

STAR CLUSTERS, GALAXIES, AND THE FUNDAMENTAL MANIFOLD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We explore whether global observed properties, specifically half-light radii, mean surface brightness, and integrated stellar kinematics, suffice to unambiguously differentiate galaxies from star clusters, which presumably formed differently and lack ...

Winds versus jets: A comparison between black hole feedback modes in simulations of idealized galaxy groups and clusters [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2023
Using the SWIFT simulation code we compare the effects of different forms of active galactic nuclei (AGN) feedback in idealized galaxy groups and clusters.

A Radio-to-millimeter Census of Star-forming Galaxies in Protocluster 4C 23.56 at z = 2.5: Global and Local Gas Kinematics [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2019
We present a study of the gas kinematics of star-forming galaxies associated with protocluster 4C 23.56 at z = 2.49 using 0.″4 resolution CO (4–3) data taken with ALMA.

Inner and outer star forming regions over the disks of spiral galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2019
Context. The H IIregions are all studied employing the same general prescriptions and models, independently of the regions location in the galaxy disk.

Star-forming galaxies in low-redshift clusters: Effects of environment on the concentration of star formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aims. We attempt to determine the dominant processes acting on star-forming disk galaxies as a result of the cluster environment by studying the normalised rates and radial distributions of star formation in galaxies within low-redshift clusters. Methods.

Young massive star clusters in nearby galaxies. I. Identification and general properties of cluster systems

open access: yes, 1999
Using ground-based UBVRI+Halpha CCD photometry we have been carrying out a search for young massive star clusters (YMCs) in a sample consisting of 21 nearby spiral galaxies. We find a large variety concerning the richness of the cluster systems, with some galaxies containing no YMCs at all and others hosting very large numbers of YMCs.

New insights into the star formation histories of candidate intermediate-age early-type galaxies from K-band imaging of globular clusters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the age and metallicity distributions of bright globular clusters (GCs) in the candidate intermediate-age early-type galaxies NGC 3610, 584 and 3377 using a combination of new Gemini's Near InfraRed Imager and Spectrometer K -band ...

NEW UBVRI PHOTOMETRY OF 234 M33 STAR CLUSTERS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This is the second paper of our series. In this paper, we present UBV RI photometry for 234 star clusters in the field of M33. For most of these star clusters, there is photometry in only two bands in previous studies.

Description of the scenario for the development of proto galaxies with small angular momentum through cascade fragmentation with the formation of proto clusters and proto stars based on graph theory

open access: yes, 2020
The process of proto galaxies development is considered in the period of Universe cooling, when their masses are equal to the Jeans values. As a result of further cooling, the proto systems are subjected to the cascade fragmentation mechanism under which
