Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum for Image Analysis. [PDF]
The Solid Harmonic Wavelet Bispectrum (SHWB), a rotation‐ and translation‐invariant descriptor that captures higher‐order (phase) correlations in signals, is introduced. Combining wavelet scattering, bispectral analysis, and group theory, SHWB achieves interpretable, data‐efficient representations and demonstrates competitive performance across texture,

Statistical mechanics of galaxies [PDF]
An analysis, aimed at clarifying the predictions of statistical mechanics for collisionless stellar systems, is presented. This is motivated by the recent success of maximum entropy-like principles applied to the structure of elliptical galaxies. It is argued that the strong divergence of trajectories in gravitational N-body systems leads to a very ...

Targeted decrease of portal hepatic pressure gradient improves ascites control after TIPS
The river diagram demonstrates that after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt insertion (TIPS) the majority of patients without ascites and 50% of the patients with ascites detectable at ultrasound, show the best response in the long term follow‐up.

The galaxies observed within the error boxes of gamma-ray bursts are inconsistent with the host galaxies predicted by the simplest \minimal" cosmological model where bursts emit 61 0 50 ergs but are consistent with a standard candle energy of 10 53 ergs (if radiated isotrop- ically).

Janus kinase 2 inhibition by pacritinib as potential therapeutic target for liver fibrosis
Diagram of the activation of the profibrotic and procontractile Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/Ras homolog family member A/Rho‐kinase pathway and the inhibition of phosphorylated JAK2 by pacritinib to inhibit hepatic stellate cell activity. Abstract Background and Aims Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) signaling is increased in human and experimental liver fibrosis with ...

Statistics of Galaxy Clustering [PDF]
In this introductory talk we will establish connections between the statistical analysis of galaxy clustering in cosmology and recent work in mainstream spatial statistics. The lecture will review the methods of spatial statistics used by both sets of scholars, having in mind the cross-fertilizing purpose of the meeting series.

Galaxy distribution and extreme-value statistics [PDF]
We consider the conditional galaxy density around each galaxy, and study its fluctuations in the newest samples of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7. Over a large range of scales, both the average conditional density and its variance show a nontrivial scaling behavior, which resembles to criticality. The density depends, for 10 < r < 80

Statistical modeling of CO emission in the galaxy [PDF]
We summarize here some of the distribution properties of CO clouds in our galaxy as determined by observation and by computer simulations of these observations. The simulations adequately account for the number of clouds, their spatial separation, and their relative velocities with respect to one another.
