Autoparallels and the Inverse Problem of the Calculus of Variations
ABSTRACT We prove that autoparallel curves associated with a torsion‐free but not necessarily metric‐compatible affine connection can be derived from an action principle. We explicitly construct the action functional and show by standard variational techniques that it produces the desired equations.

The relationship between Gas and Galaxies [PDF]
We have investigated the 2D 2-point correlation function, ƐAG, between low column density Lya absorbers and galaxies at a redshift z ~ 1 for the first time.

A Possible Solution to the Mystery of the ANITA Anomalous Events
In 2006 and 2014, the Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA), a balloon‐borne radio observatory flying over Antarctica, detected two strange upward‐going radio pulse events that have not yet been explained by our current understanding of physics.

Optical polarimetry studies of Seyfert galaxies [PDF]
Optical imaging polarimetry has been performed on seven nearby Seyfert galaxies, three with face-on and four with edge-on host galaxies of various morphological classifications.

Extended stellar kinematics of elliptical galaxies in the Fornax cluster?;?? [PDF]
. We present extended stellar kinematics for a sample of elliptical galaxies in the Fornax cluster. Out of the 13 galaxies presented here, ve (FCC 119, FCC 136, NGC 1373, NGC 1428, FCC 335) have no pre-viously published kinematical data.

Abstract String theory has strong implications for cosmology, implying the absence of a cosmological constant, ruling out single‐field slow‐roll inflation, and that black holes decay. The origins of these statements are elucidated within the string‐theoretical swampland programme.

The Dynamics of White Dwarfs, Black Holes and Stellar Cusps [PDF]
This thesis contains topics related mostly to the dynamics of white dwarfs (chapter 2), the dynamics of stars around binary super massive black holes (chapters 4, 5 and 6) and dynamics in the singular isothermal sphere (chapter 7).

Edible Pneumatic Battery for Sustained and Repeated Robot Actuation
This work presents an edible energy source and valve system to power soft, pneumatically driven edible robots. A chemical reaction between sodium bicarbonate and citric acid generates carbon dioxide gas, and a pressure‐triggered edible valve enables self‐repetitive motion of the edible actuator.
