Composite bulges: the coexistence of classical bulges and discy pseudo-bulges in S0 and spiral galaxies [PDF]
We study nine S0-Sb galaxies with (photometric) bulges consisting of two distinct components. The outer component is a flattened, kinematically cool, disklike structure: a "disky pseudobulge". Embedded inside is a rounder, kinematically hot spheroid: a "classical bulge".

The oldest stars of the bulge: new information on the ancient Galaxy
Recently the search for the oldest stars have started to focus on the Bulge region. The Galactic bulge hosts extremely old stars, with ages compatible with the ages of the oldest halo stars.

Multiwavelength Bulge-Disk Decomposition for the Galaxy M81 (NGC 3031). I. Morphology
A panchromatic investigation of morphology for the early-type spiral galaxy M81 is presented in this paper. We perform bulge-disk decomposition in M81 images at a total of 20 wavebands from FUV to NIR obtained with GALEX, Swift, SDSS, WIYN, 2MASS, WISE ...

BULGES OF NEARBY GALAXIES WITHSPITZER: SCALING RELATIONS IN PSEUDOBULGES AND CLASSICAL BULGES [PDF]
We investigate scaling relations of bulges using bulge-disk decompositions at 3.6 micron and present bulge classifications for 173 E-Sd galaxies within 20 Mpc. Pseudobulges and classical bulges are identified using Sersic index, HST morphology, and star formation activity (traced by 8 micron emission).

Clustering and redshift-space distortions in QSO and galaxy surveys [PDF]
In this thesis, we exploit the potential of existing QSO and galaxy surveys for investigating the nature of the large scale structure in the Universe. A detailed analysis of clustering and redshift- space distortions allows us to constrain cosmological ...

Overview of the effects of Pax1‐SAR deletion on gene expression, IVD degeneration, and resultant scoliotic‐like curvature between sexes. Proposed mechanism of sex‐dependent changes in gene expression in females (right) and males (left), resulting in sex‐dependent disc degeneration and scoliotic phenotypes.

Terrestrial Analogs to Titan for Geophysical Research
Abstract Saturn's moon Titan exhibits remarkable parallels to the Earth in many geophysical and geological processes not found elsewhere in the solar system at the present day. These include a nitrogen atmosphere with a condensible gas—methane—replacing the Earth's water, leading to an active meteorology with rainfall and surface manifestations ...

Abstract String theory has strong implications for cosmology, implying the absence of a cosmological constant, ruling out single‐field slow‐roll inflation, and that black holes decay. The origins of these statements are elucidated within the string‐theoretical swampland programme.

Dynamical signature of a stellar bulge in a quasar host galaxy at $z\simeq 6$
We present a dynamical analysis of a quasar-host galaxy at $z\simeq 6$ (SDSS J2310+1855) using a high-resolution ALMA observation of the [CII] emission line.

The Bochum Survey of the Southern Galactic Disk: III. Complete Data Release
ABSTRACT The Southern Galactic Disk Survey (GDS) monitored a mosaic of 268 fields along a 6°$$ {6}^{{}^{\circ}} $$‐wide stripe in the southern Galactic disk with simultaneous observations in r′$$ {r}^{\prime } $$ and i′$$ {i}^{\prime } $$ (7m≲r′,i′≲18m$$ {7}^{\mathrm{m}}\lesssim {r}^{\prime },{i}^{\prime}\lesssim {18}^{\mathrm{m}} $$) from September ...
