Advanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

A Bifunctional T3SS‐Effector Simultaneously Cleaves Host MAP Kinase and Inhibits PPM1A Phosphatase
Advanced Science, EarlyView.Pathogenic bacteria exploit the metalloprotease effector NleD to subvert host defenses. Structural, biochemical, and infection analyses reveal a bifunctional mechanism by which NleD binds and inhibits the host phosphatase PPM1A while preserving its proteolytic activity against MAPKs.

Advanced Science, EarlyView.Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.

Advanced Science, EarlyView.A real‐time, non‐contact photoplethysmography (PPG) system based on InAs colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) synthesized via a seedless injection synthesis is demonstrated. The measured oxygen saturation shows considerable agreement with commercial PPG devices.

On the Formation of Elliptical Galaxies
, 1994 It is shown that the violent relaxation of dissipationless stellar systems leads to universal de Vaucouleurs profiles only outside 1.5 effective radii $R_e$. Inside $1.5 R_e$ the surface density profiles depend strongly on the initial conditions and are in general not in agreement with the de Vaucouleurs law.

Triggering Star Formation by Galaxy-Galaxy Interactions [PDF]
Symposium - International Astronomical Union, 2004 We analyzed the effects of having a close companion on the star formation activity of galaxies in the 8K galaxy pair catalog selected from the 2dFGRS. We found that, statistically, galaxies with rp < 25h−1 kpc and ΔV < 100km s−1 have enhanced star formation with respect to isolated galaxies with the same luminosity and redshift distribution.
