Revisiting Variable Stars Toward the Globular Cluster NGC 6496 With ATLAS and Gaia Photometry

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We revisit 13 variable stars in the field of the metal‐rich globular cluster NGC 6496, discovered by Abbas et al. (2015; Astronomical Journal 149:40) (hereafter referred to as “MA15”) via time‐series data, spanning 2 years. We improve upon the MA15 characterization of the variables using ATLAS time‐series photometry data, spanning 8 years, in ...

The obscured hyper-energetic GRB 120624B hosted by a luminous compact galaxy at z=2.20 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Context. Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are the most luminous explosions that we can witness in the Universe. Studying the most extreme cases of these phenomena allows us to constrain the limits for the progenitor models. Aims.

On the Formation of Elliptical Galaxies

open access: yes, 1994
It is shown that the violent relaxation of dissipationless stellar systems leads to universal de Vaucouleurs profiles only outside 1.5 effective radii $R_e$. Inside $1.5 R_e$ the surface density profiles depend strongly on the initial conditions and are in general not in agreement with the de Vaucouleurs law.

Anterior Drawer Maneuver to Access Knee Posteromedial Compartment

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Over the years, diagnostic arthroscopy has been the key to accurately diagnosing lesions in the knee. However, accessing the posterior compartment of the knee remains a challenge for upcoming arthroscopy surgeons. Gillquist was the first surgeon to publish a technique for accessing the posteromedial compartment in 1979, following which several

Globular cluster systems and their implications of galaxy formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this thesis the spectroscopic and photometric results of the Galactic and extragalactic globular clusters are presented. And their implications on galaxy formation have been investigated.

Targeting Amastigote and Trypomastigote Phases: Multi‐Epitope Vaccine Strategy Against Trypanosoma cruzi

open access: yesBiotechnology and Applied Biochemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Effective vaccines against Trypanosoma cruzi, the causative agent of Chagas disease, are urgently needed. Here, we report the design and in silico validation of a novel multiepitope vaccine construct targeting the key surface proteins ASP‐2 and gp82. Using a comprehensive immunoinformatics pipeline, we identified and selected 38 potent T‐cell (

Form flows function: Learner‐centered game Re‐design in a STEM classroom

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Re‐designing games facilitates interest‐driven learning and immerses learners in systems thinking. However, there are limited studies exploring how the form and function of tabletop games influence learners' design decisions and learning experiences. To address this gap, we conducted a mixed‐methods study in a STEM classroom in western Canada.

Molecular hydrogen in galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
This study aims to understand the key role played by molecular hydrogen in the evolution of galaxies, with a view to constraining its radial distribution in the Galaxy and the CO→H(_2) conversion factor α(_20).The star formation rate is shown to be ...

Gas, star formation and quenching in galaxy clusters and groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
I will review our current knowledge of the link between the star formation activity+quenching and the gas availability and removal as a function of galaxy environment focusing on galaxy clusters and groups.
