Galatics kinematics and dynamics

open access: yes, 2019
Les modèles galactiques auto-cohérents sont nécessaires pour analyser et interpréter les comptages d’étoiles, les distributions de densité stellaire et la cinématique stellaire, dans le but de comprendre la formation et l’évolution de notre Galaxie ...

Fabry-Perot Interferometry and Spiral Galaxy Dynamics

open access: yes, 2008
We present two-dimensional Fabry-Perot observations of the emission-line distribution and kinematics in nearby spiral galaxies. We have developed and demonstrated the utility of a number of analysis tools which have general applicability, but which we ...

Circumnuclear structure and kinematics in the active galaxy NGC 6951

open access: yes, 2000
19 pags. ; 16 figs.A study is presented of the central structure and kinematics of the galaxy NGC 6951, by means of broad band B{\arcminIJK} images and high resolution high dispersion longslit spectroscopy, together with archival HST WFPC2 V and NICMOS2 ...

A Unified Empirical Timescale for Galaxy Dynamics from Kinematic Scale Competition

open access: yes
Abstract We define a unified, empirically constructed dynamical observable τ, expressed as a signed characteristic timescale (in Myr), derived from two structural scales extracted directly from kinematic data: a dynamical coherence length ξ_GL and a baryonic confinement scale r_core.

DARK MATTER OR MODIFIED DYNAMICS? HINTS FROM GALAXY KINEMATICS

open access: yesDark Matter in Astrophysics and Particle Physics, 2009
I show two observational projects I am involved in, which are aimed at understanding better the existence and nature of dark matter, and also aimed at testing alternatives to galactic dark matter such as MOND (Modified Newtonian Dynamics). I present new HI observations of the nearby dwarf galaxy NGC 3741.

Kinematics and Dynamics of Galaxies in Compact Groups for a sample of 31 groups

Astrophysics and Space Science, 2002
A long-term program based on Fabry-Perot Ha velocity field data of compact groups has been undertaken in order to analyse the kinematics of the compact group galaxies and the extent of their dark halos. The data are taken at the ESO and the CFH 3.6 m telescopes.

Mapping galaxy components with kinematics : dynamical models with stellar and gaseous kinematics

2020
"My postgraduate study was supported by the China Scholarship Council [File No. 201603780010]. My research in this thesis received grant from the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance [Postdoctoral and Early Career Researcher Exchange Program]; the Royal Astronomical Society [RAS Small Grants Scheme]; and the International Astronomical Union [IAU ...

Stellar Kinematics and Dynamical Modeling of Two Seyfert Galaxies

2023
A crucial breakthrough in the study of galaxy evolution occurred with the discovery that black holes are ubiquitous in galaxy nuclei, and the masses of supermassive black holes scale with several properties of the host galaxies. The interpretation is that central black holes and their host galaxies co-evolve and regulate one anothers growth.
