Stride‐to‐Stride Fluctuations and Temporal Patterns of Muscle Activity Exhibit a Stronger Relationship in Running‐Induced Fatigue

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Medicine &Science in Sports, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT During gait, the temporal patterns of stride‐to‐stride fluctuations and muscle activation exhibit similar responses. This study examined if increasing task demands such as fatigued high intensity running affects this relationship. Eleven experienced runners completed two 400‐m runs (R1, R2) with a 3‐min break to induce fatigue.

Ionized and Molecular Gas Kinematics in a z = 1.4 Star-forming Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We present deep observations of a z = 1.4 massive, star-forming galaxy (SFG) in molecular and ionized gas at comparable spatial resolution (CO 3–2, NOrthern Extended Millimeter Array (NOEMA); Hα, Large Binocular Telescope (LBT)).

A Malin 1 ‘cousin’ with counter-rotation: internal dynamics and stellar content of the giant low surface brightness galaxy UGC 1922 [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
The formation scenario for giant low surface brightness (gLSB) galaxies with discs as large as 100 kpc still remains unclear. These stellar systems are rare and very hard to observe, therefore a detailed insight on every additional object helps to ...

OrchardQuant‐3D: combining drone and LiDAR to perform scalable 3D phenotyping for characterising key canopy and floral traits in fruit orchards

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 11, Page 4910-4929, November 2025.
Summary Orchard fruits such as pear and apple are important for ensuring global food security and agricultural economy as they not only provide essential nutrients, but also support biodiversity and ecosystem services. Breeders, growers and plant researchers constantly study desirable tree morphological features and floral characteristics to ensure ...

The kinematics of star clusters undergoing gas expulsion in Newtonian and Milgromian dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2019
We study the kinematics of stars in clusters undergoing gas expulsion in standard Newtonian dynamics and also in Milgromian dynamics (MOND). Gas expulsion can explain the observed line-of-sight (LoS) velocity dispersion profile of NGC 2419 in Newtonian ...

Kinematics of Low‐zUltraluminous Infrared Galaxies and Implications for Dynamical Mass Derivations in High‐zStar‐forming Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2005
The kinematic properties of the gaseous and stellar components of 11 ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs; 14 nuclei) are investigated by means of integral field spectroscopy (IFS) with the INTEGRAL system and available IR and CO millimeter spectroscopy.

A review of multiscale numerical modeling of rock mechanics and rock engineering

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, Volume 4, Issue 3, Page 382-405, September 2025.
Multiscale numerical methods of rock mechanics and rock engineering are reviewed, and the review results show that more attention should be paid to the development of an advanced constitutive model in addition to numerical techniques themselves. Abstract Rock is geometrically and mechanically multiscale in nature, and the traditional phenomenological ...

Gravity Wave Variability in the Arctic Winter Mesosphere in Relation With the Stratospheric Polar Vortex

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 16, 28 August 2025.
Abstract In this study, we have investigated short‐period (< ${< } $1 hr) atmospheric gravity waves (AGWs) in the Arctic mesosphere‐lower thermosphere (MLT) region during January of 2014, 2015, and 2016. We used OH (3,1) band emission data from the Advanced Mesospheric Temperature Mapper (AMTM) at the Arctic Lidar Observatory for Middle Atmosphere ...

Kinematics and simulations of the stellar stream in the halo of the Umbrella Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the dynamics of faint stellar substructures around the Umbrella Galaxy, NGC 4651, which hosts a dramatic system of streams and shells formed through the tidal disruption of a nucleated dwarf elliptical galaxy.
