The stellar content of nuclear star clusters in spiral galaxies
SPIE Proceedings, 2003We discuss first results from a spectroscopic survey of nuclear star clusters in nearby, late-type spiral galaxies. The data, obtained with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS), allow us to derive cluster ages via stellar population synthesis methods.

Stellar Contents Contributing to the Near-Infrared Radiation of the Galaxy
Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 1982Abstract The stellar contents contributing to the near-infrared radiation of the Galaxy are examined on the basis of the star counts in the Scutum region, which were carried out by near-infrared photometry. The detected stars are divided into three groups with the use of objective-prism spectra and H—K colors. For these three groups, the

Elliptical galaxies : structure, stellar content, and evolution
1998NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. A near-infrared imaging survey of 341 nearby early-type galaxies, combined with optical imaging and spectroscopic data from the literature, are used to construct the global scaling relations for this population of galaxies.

The Stellar Content of Early-Type Galaxies in Dense Environments
1989We present evidence, based on an analysis of the integrated spectra of cluster and field galaxies, that the stellar content of early-type galaxies in the cores of rich clusters is different from that of early-type galaxies in low-density environments. Specifically, the large intermediate-age stellar populations inferred to exist in ellipticals in low ...

The Evolving Stellar Content of Galaxies and the X-Ray Evolution of Elliptical Galaxies
1990Some of the several roles played by the evolving stellar component of galaxies are introduced, and the ultimate root of many observational correlations among global galaxy properties is indicated in the current stellar death rate. As a concrete example, the case of the stellar mass loss in elliptical galaxies is examined in detail. The material lost by
