Dependence of the clustering properties of galaxies on galaxy age
Chinese Journal of Physics, 2016Abstract From the Main galaxy data of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 10 (SDSS DR10), we construct two volume-limited samples with the luminosity −20.5 ≤ M r ≤−18.5 and −22.5 ≤ M r ≤−20.5, respectively, and explore the dependence of the clustering properties of galaxies on galaxy age by cluster analysis.

In principle, these questions can be answered directly from observations and the theory of stellar evolution (isochrones), nuclear cosmochronology and white dwarf cooling. 1994We describe evidence supporting the view that the evolution of elliptical galaxies and spiral bulges was more complex and heterogeneous than formerly supposed. They appear to have prolonged, episodic star formation histories, and their dominant stellar populations can range in age from ~ 1 to ~ 15 Gyr.
