A 30m Large Program: The CO Line Atlas of the Whirlpool Galaxy Survey (CLAWS) [PDF]
Robust knowledge of the distribution, amount, and physical/chemical state of the cold molecular (H2) gas is key to understanding galaxy evolution. With the help of multi-CO line observations, it is possible to study the molecular gas distribution and ...

He abundances in disc galaxies. I. Predictions from cosmological chemodynamical simulations [PDF]
Accepted for publication in A&AWe investigate how the stellar and gas-phase He abundances evolve as a function of time within simulated star-forming disc galaxies with different star formation histories.

Chemical evolution of local galaxies
We show the results of a study using the spectral synthesis technique study to measure the chemical evolution of local galaxies. The main parameters measured are the chemical enrichment history (ChEH) and the evolution of the stellar mass-metallicity relation (MZR) over cosmic time.

The Chemical Evolution of the Galaxy [PDF]
Over the last few years, our picture of the chemical evolution of the Galaxy has changed substantially. These changes are of interest because chemical evolution provides a common point of contact for most astrophysical processes of importance to galaxy evolution.

On the α/Fe Bimodality of the M31 Disks
An outstanding question is whether the α /Fe bimodality exists in disk galaxies other than in the Milky Way. Here we present a bimodality using our state-of-the-art galactic chemical evolution models that can explain various observations in the Andromeda

Stellar populations in gas-rich galaxy mergers I. Dependence on star formation history
We investigate the nature of stellar populations of major galaxy mergers between late-type spirals considerably abundant in interstellar medium by performing numerical simulations designed to solve both the dynamical and chemical evolution in a self ...

A High-precision Survey of the D/H Ratio in the Nearby Interstellar Medium
We present high signal-to-noise ratio measurements of the H i Ly α absorption line toward 16 Galactic targets that are at distances between approximately 190 and 2200 pc, all beyond the wall of the Local Bubble.

The Chemical Evolution of the Draco Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy [PDF]
We present an abundance analysis based on high resolution spectra of 8 stars selected to span the full range in metallicity in the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy. We find [Fe/H] for the sample stars ranges from -1.5 to -3.0 dex.

Chemical evolution of the Small Magellanic Cloud based on planetary nebulae [PDF]
We investigate the chemical evolution of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) based on abundance data of planetary nebulae (PNe). The main goal is to investigate the time evolution of the oxygen abundance in this galaxy by deriving an age-metallicity ...

We present an empirical chemical evolution model that explains the distribution of metals in the interstellar medium (ISM) and the circumgalactic medium (CGM) of galaxies based on the U niverse M achine and N eutral U niverse M achine models in the ...
