The Formation of Dark Matter Halos and High-Redshift Galaxies

open access: yes, 2011
In the concordance LCDM cosmological model, galaxies form in the centers of dark matter halos and merge with one another following the mergers of their host halos. Thus, we set out to quantify the growth mechanisms of dark matter halos. For this purpose, we analyze several large N-body simulations of the growth of cosmic structure.

Solving Milky Way–sized Systems with Haskap Pie: A Halo Finding Algorithm with Efficient Sampling, K-means Clustering, Tree-assembly, Particle Tracking, Python Modules, Intercode Applicability, and Energy Solving

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We describe a new Python-based stand-alone halo finding algorithm, Haskap Pie , that combines several methods of halo finding and tracking into a single calculation. Our halo-finder flexibly solves halos for simulations produced by eight simulation codes

Chameleon gravity as an alternative to dark matter

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
By studying the chameleon gravity on galaxy scales, we investigate the effects of the chameleon dark matter. To perform this task, we consider the dynamics of the chameleon scalar field in the region of galactic halos in static spherically symmetric ...

Hydro-Gravitational Dynamics of Planets and Dark Energy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2009
Self gravitational fluid mechanical methods termed hydro-gravitational-dynamics (HGD) predict plasma fragmentation 0.03 Myr after the turbulent big bang to form protosuperclustervoids, turbulent protosuperclusters, and protogalaxies at the 0.3 Myr ...

The Dependence of Dark Matter Halo Properties on the Morphology of Their Central Galaxies from Weak Lensing

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Xu & Jing reported a monotonic relationship between the host halo mass M _h and the morphology of massive central galaxies, characterized by the Sérsic index n , at fixed stellar mass, suggesting that morphology could serve as a good secondary proxy for ...

The AIDA-TNG project: Abundance, radial distribution, and clustering properties of halos in alternative dark matter models

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Warm and self-interactive dark matter cosmologies have been proposed as nonbaryonic solutions to the tensions between the Λ cold dark matter model and observations at the kiloparsec scale.

Halo Asymmetry in the Modeling of Galaxy Clustering

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Conventional studies of galaxy clustering within the framework of halo models typically assume that the density profile of all dark matter halos can be approximated by the Navarro–Frenk–White (NFW) spherically symmetric profile.

Constructing a Galaxy Cluster Catalog in IllustrisTNG300 Using the Mulguisin Algorithm

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a new simulated galaxy cluster catalog based on the IllustrisTNG simulation. We use the Mulguisin (MGS) algorithm to identify galaxy overdensities.

Origin and Full Characterization of the Secondary (Assembly) Halo Bias

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The clustering of dark matter halos depends not only on their mass, the so-called primary bias, but also on their internal properties, the so-called secondary bias.

SIDM Concerto: Compilation and Data Release of Self-interacting Dark Matter Zoom-in Simulations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present SIDM Concerto: 14 cosmological zoom-in simulations in cold dark matter (CDM) and self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) models based on the Symphony and Milky Way-est suites.
