A Degradable Bioinspired Flier with Aerogel‐Based Colorimetric Sensors for Environmental Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 15, 13 March 2026.
Biodegradable fliers are developed inspired by Tipuana tipu samaras, integrating cellulose nanocrystal aerogel (CNCa) sensors loaded with natural dyes for pH and ammonia detection. The lightweight, degradable fliers mimic natural morphology and aerodynamics, offering an eco‐friendly, scalable solution for in situ environmental monitoring after passive ...

Are Purely Gaseous Bars in Dwarf Irregulars a Myth?

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
About two-thirds of galactic disks exhibit a central ellipsoidal stellar component called the bar, with or without a gaseous counterpart. However, there are a few dwarf galaxies with purely gaseous bars: NGC 3741, NGC 2915, and DDO 168. This is a puzzle,

Dynamics of the Galaxy

open access: yes, 1999
Our Galaxy is a barred spiral. Recent work based on the COBE NIR data implies a small bulge-bar and a disk with a short scale-length. The corotation radius of the bar is in the range 3-4.5 kpc. The stellar density distribution beyond the end of the bar appears to be perturbed strongly by the Galaxy's spiral arms.

Edible Pneumatic Battery for Sustained and Repeated Robot Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 15, 13 March 2026.
This work presents an edible energy source and valve system to power soft, pneumatically driven edible robots. A chemical reaction between sodium bicarbonate and citric acid generates carbon dioxide gas, and a pressure‐triggered edible valve enables self‐repetitive motion of the edible actuator.

Programming Next‐Generation Synthetic Biosensors by Genetic Circuit Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 14, 9 March 2026.
Synthetic biology enables genetic circuit‐based biosensing to detect diverse targets, process signals, and transduce them into readable outputs or intracellular regulatory activities. However, field deployment and real‐world application of such synthetic biosensors face considerable challenges in sensitivity, specificity, speed, stability, and ...

Breaking the Degeneracy between Warps and Radial Flows in External Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Observations of the line-of-sight (LOS) component of emitter velocities in galaxies are valuable for reconstructing their two-dimensional (2D) velocity fields, albeit requiring certain assumptions.

A New Padé Approach to Modeling Wormholes in Dekel‐Zhao Dark Matter Halos

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 3, March 2026.
A matter‐first Padé strategy is introduced to build traversable wormholes from prescribed dark‐matter halos. Rational Padé fits approximately the Dekel–Zhao density and are analytically integrated to obtain a shape function that exactly reproduces the intended matter content, avoiding spurious poles of geometry‐first schemes.
