Formation and Secular Evolution of Elliptical Galaxies [PDF]
Three ways have been proposed to make elliptical galaxies: cooling by gas dynamical processes at late epochs, Compton cooling at early times and merging. These theories must address a variety of observational constraints, the most severe being the problems of slow rotation and high central phase densities.

Similarity Assessment of the Engineering Concepts: Decision‐Making Support and Metrics
ABSTRACT The new product development (NPD) process is a systematic approach to bring new products and innovations to market. Nowadays, this process is affected by a number of influencing factors associated with the fast‐paced technological changes. One of those factors is the distributed design nature of product development activities: team members are

Science Triggers and Situational Interest in Everyday Family Life
ABSTRACT Interest in science is critical for science learning. The family plays a major role in supporting the development of children's interest in science by eliciting and fostering interest and engagement with science content and practice. This study characterizes triggers for interest in science in everyday family life and measures the duration of ...

Tools for Learning—Promoting Reflection for Student Teachers' Development of PCK
ABSTRACT This paper investigates how the coherent integration of three different tools for reflection during a science methods course can contribute to student teachers' planning and enactment of science teaching, that is, their development of pedagogical content knowledge (PCK).

The Effect of Seductive Details on Knowledge Retention in Physics Videos: A Mixed Methods Study
ABSTRACT Research reports that interesting but irrelevant information, seductive details, in teaching material can impede learning. In science education, the inclusion of historical narratives in lessons to promote interest has been recommended but may hinder learning.

From Brad to worse: Rule‐consequentialism and undesirable futures
Abstract This paper asks how rule‐consequentialism might adapt to very adverse futures, and whether moderate liberal consequentialism can survive into broken futures and/or futures where humanity faces imminent extinction. The paper first recaps the recent history of rule‐consequentialist procreative ethics.

Resource allocation for integrated satellite‐terrestrial networks based on RSMA
We first establish a downlink transmission framework for the integrated satellite‐terrestrial network based on RSMA, to achieve high data rate transmission of virtual reality applications globally. Then, considering some practical constraints, a joint resource allocation problem of rate and transmission power is formulated.

On the Formation and Evolution of Stellar Bars in Galaxies
We have done a detailed study on the structural and kinematical properties of lenticular and early- and late-type spiral galaxies with bars, aiming to explore the formation and evolution processes of stellar bars in galaxies, and their implications on the global formation and evolution of galaxies.
