The Formation and Evolution of Disk Galaxies

open access: yes, 1998
We review some of our recent progress in modelling the formation of disk galaxies in the framework of hierarchical structure formation. Our model is not only consistent with the local observations, but also provides a good description of disk evolution out to redshift z~1.

PANCAKE: A Python-based Numerical Color–Magnitude Diagram Analysis Package

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Stellar populations serve as a fossil record of galaxy formation and evolution, providing crucial information about the history of star formation and galaxy evolution.

AEOS: Star-by-star Cosmological Simulations of Early Chemical Enrichment and Galaxy Formation

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The A eos project introduces a series of high-resolution cosmological simulations that model star-by-star chemical enrichment and galaxy formation in the early Universe, achieving 1 pc resolution.

Understanding Galaxy Formation and Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The old dream of integrating into one the study of micro and macrocosmos is now a reality. Cosmology, astrophysics, and particle physics intersect in a scenario (but still not a theory) of cosmic structure formation and evolution called Lambda Cold Dark Matter (LCDM) model. This scenario emerged mainly to explain the origin of galaxies.

SDSS-IV MaNGA: Spatial Evolution of Gas-phase Metallicity Changes Induced by Galaxy Interactions

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Gas-phase metallicity in interacting and merging galaxies offers key insights into their star formation processes and evolutionary histories. This study investigates the spatial evolution of gas-phase metallicity (i.e., oxygen abundance, 12 + log(O/H ...

Impact of stellar population models on the estimated physical properties of galaxies

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Accurate estimates of fundamental physical properties of galaxies, such as star formation rates (SFRs) or stellar masses, are essential for testing and constraining models of galaxy formation and evolution.

The complex history of NGC 1427A revealed by its star clusters and star formation history

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Star-forming low-mass galaxies in the dense environments of galaxy clusters provide opportunities to study how environmental effects such as ram-pressure stripping, tidal interactions, or galaxy mergers shape a galaxy’s star formation history.

Deep Swift/UVOT Observations of GOODS-N and the Evolution of the Ultraviolet Luminosity Function at 0.2 < z < 1.2

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present Swift Ultraviolet Optical Telescope (UVOT) observations of the deep field GOODS-N in four near-UV filters. A catalog of detected galaxies is reported, which will be used to explore galaxy evolution using UV emission.

On the Formation and Evolution of cD Galaxies

open access: yes, 2008
The cannibalism mechanism of formation of cD galaxies in clusters of Bautz-Morgan class I is analyzed. Dependences between absolute magnitude of cD galaxies, and of the clusters in which they reside (richness, redshifts) are considered. Evidences are presented in favor of formation of cD galaxies by cannibalism and their evolution.

A Survey of Galaxy Pairs in the SDSS Photometric Images based on Faster-RCNN

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Galaxy pairs hold significant importance in understanding the evolution of galaxies, and the extensive search for a large sample of galaxy pairs is meaningful.
