Magnetic fields during galaxy mergers [PDF]
Galaxy mergers are expected to play a central role for the evolution of galaxies, and may have a strong impact on their magnetic fields. We present the first grid-based 3D magneto-hydrodynamical simulations investigating the evolution of magnetic fields during merger events. For this purpose, we employ a simplified model considering the merger event of

In this study, we apply the velocity gradient technique to the merging Centaurus galaxy. We compare gradient maps derived from the PHANGS-Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array survey using CO emission lines with magnetic field tracings from dust ...

Statistics of Gas Density, Velocity, and Magnetic Fields in Cool-core Galaxy Clusters
Understanding turbulence within the intracluster medium of galaxy clusters is pivotal for comprehending their evolution and dynamics. Employing 3D magnetohydrodynamic simulations of galaxy cluster mergers, we examine the statistical properties of gas ...

Magnetic fields in radio relics and in the outskirts of galaxy clusters [PDF]
The observation of diffuse synchrotron radio emission in galaxy clusters reveals the existence of relativistic electrons and large-scale magnetic fields permeating the intra-cluster volume.

Photons may convert to axion-like particles (ALPs) in external magnetic fields. Under certain conditions, this effect should result in irregular features in observed spectra of astrophysical sources.

SIMULATING MAGNETIC FIELDS IN THE ANTENNAE GALAXIES [PDF]
We present self-consistent high-resolution simulations of NGC4038/4039 (the "Antennae galaxies") including star formation, supernova feedback and magnetic fields performed with the N-body/SPH code Gadget, in which magnetohydrodynamics are followed with the SPH method. We vary the initial magnetic field in the progenitor disks from 1 nG to 100 muG.

Plasmoid Instability in the Multiphase Interstellar Medium
The processes controlling the complex clump structure, phase distribution, and magnetic field geometry that develop across a broad range of scales in the turbulent interstellar medium (ISM) remain unclear.

Magnetic fields in and around galaxies
Magnetic fields are an ubiquitous component of our Universe. They are expected to play an important role in the evolution of many astrophysical systems, from molecular clouds to galaxy clusters. In the case of galaxies, magnetic energy is measured to be in equipartition with thermal and turbulent energies of the interstellar medium.

Event Rate of Fast Radio Bursts from Binary Neutron Star Mergers
It is proposed that a one-off fast radio burst (FRB) with periodic structure may be produced during the inspiral phase of a binary neutron star (BNS) merger. In this paper, we study the event rate of such kind of FRB.

An underlying universal pattern in galaxy halo magnetic fields
Magnetic fields in galaxy halos are in general very difficult to observe. Most recently, the Continuum HAlos in Nearby Galaxies – an EVLA Survey (CHANG-ES) Collaboration investigated the radio halos of 35 nearby edge-on spiral galaxies in detail and ...
