The Public Character of Church in the Digital Age☆

open access: yesInternational Journal of Systematic Theology, EarlyView.
Abstract The rise of digital technology in recent decades has led to a rapid change of communication and interaction within society and its public dimensions. As this shift in the technological landscape raises theological questions about the appropriate ecclesial use of digital technology, it also touches upon fundamental questions about the church's ...

RIOJA. Complex Dusty Starbursts in a Major Merger B14-65666 at z = 7.15

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present JWST NIRCam imaging of B14-65666 (“Big Three Dragons”), a bright Lyman-break galaxy system ( M _UV  = −22.5 mag) at z = 7.15. The high angular resolution of NIRCam reveals the complex morphology of two galaxy components: galaxy E has a compact

Numerical hydrodynamic simulations based on semi-analytic galaxy merger trees: method and Milky-Way like galaxies

open access: yes, 2012
We present a new approach to study galaxy evolution in a cosmological context. We combine cosmological merger trees and semi-analytic models of galaxy formation to provide the initial conditions for multi-merger hydrodynamic simulations.

Epidemiology and Genetics of Rheumatic Diseases Suggest a Constant Rate of DNA Damage as Underlying Cause

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
A constant rate of DNA damage that is not perfectly repaired will cause a constant rate of DNA mutations. The chance of mutation will increase if DNA is prone to damage, such as occurs in somatic hypermutation (SHM) hotspots and GC‐rich DNA. Thus, if one mutation‐prone DNA site drives disease, the age of onset of disease and degree of penetrance should

How Important Is the Home Market for Cross‐Listed Biotech Companies?

open access: yesInternational Finance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates five German biotechnology firms cross‐listed on XETRA and NASDAQ. By employing high‐frequency data, we estimate both bivariate and trivariate vector error correction models—the latter explicitly accounting for exchange rate dynamics—to assess which market, domestic or U.S., leads in price discovery.

NIR/Optical Selected Local Mergers --- Spatial Density and sSFR Enhancement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Mergers play important roles in triggering the most active objects in the universe, including (U)LIRGs and QSOs. However, whether they are also important for the total stellar mass build-up in galaxies in general is unclear and controversial.

Proteomic analysis of the zone of degeneration at the mitosis–meiosis transition stage in wild‐caught male catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula), correlated with an unusually high‐water temperature in the English Channel

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract In the context of current global change, variations in water temperature are one of the environmental conditions with serious consequences for marine life, including reproductive processes. In the small spotted catshark Scyliorhinus canicula, spermatogenesis occurs in spermatocysts composed of synchronously developing germ cells associated ...
