Chromosome‐scale genome assembly of the South American fruit fly, Anastrepha fraterculus sp.1
Anastrepha fraterculus sp. 1 is a major fruit fly pest in Argentina, currently controlled through chemical treatments and traps. This study aims to enhance the genomic understanding of this species to support the development of sterile insect technique as well as the use of innovative technologies.

Antifreeze proteins from winter‐active spiders were purified using their affinity for ice. After LC–MSMS characterization, corresponding transcripts were identified. The antifreeze protein folds as a β‐solenoid with a large flat ice‐binding site on one surface and can bind to ice crystals and prevent their growth at −4 °C.

Ring or No Ring—Revisiting the Multiphase Nuclear Environment in M31
Nuclear rings, prevalent in barred galaxies, are essential to understanding gas transport toward galactic nuclei. However, the peculiar nuclear ring in our neighboring galaxy M31 remains poorly understood.

New southern galaxies with active nuclei
A list of AGN candidates, identified from optical spectra taken as part of an ongoing redshift survey of southern galaxies, is presented. The identification, coordinates, morphological type, measured heliocentric radial velocity, and proposed emission type are given for the galaxies showing evidence of nonstellar nuclear activity.

A particle astrophysics magnet facility: ASTROMAG [PDF]
The primary scientific objectives of ASTROMAG are to: examine cosmological models by searching for antimatter and dark matter candidates; study the origin and evolution of matter in the galaxy by direct sampling of galactic matter; and study the origin ...

Chlorinated Paracyclophanes: Composition Analysis and Direct Metal‐Free Alkylation with n‐BuLi
A transition‐metal‐free alkylation of pseudo‐para dichloro[2.2]paracyclophane (Cl2‐PCP) is reported, utilizing the purified pseudo‐para isomer and n‐butyllithium (BuLi). Optimization with the chelating agent TMEDA and refluxing n‐heptane significantly boosted selectivity and reaction rate, providing the dialkylated product in 22% isolated yield.

Kinematics of Nuclei of Sc Galaxies [PDF]
For a sample of 21 Sc galaxies with a wide range of luminosities, of radii, and of masses, W. K. Ford and I have obtained spectra and determined rotation curves. By their kinematical behavior in their central regions, the Sc’s can be separated into two groups. Some galaxies, generally small and of low luminosity, have shallow central velocity gradients,
