Photometry of Galaxies with a Spectracon

1976
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses photometry studies of galaxies with a Spectracon. It describes an attempt to evaluate the use of electronography for the surface photometry of galaxies. The optical properties of radio galaxies are superficially indistinguishable from those of radio-quiet elliptical galaxies.

Photometry of groups of galaxies. I

Astronomische Nachrichten, 1985
AbstractPhotometric data (magnitudes, radii, profiles) for galaxies in the field of 7 nearby groups of galaxies are measured by photographic surface photometry. Most of them are dwarf galaxies.

Photometry of galaxies in compact groups

Astrophysics, 1988
The results are given of photographic photometry of galaxies in compact groups. The luminosity function of the galaxies in the investigated groups is similar to the luminosity function of field galaxies, open groups, and clusters. Of 54 groups, signs of merging of galaxies are observed in only one group.

The Oort Limit and Galaxy Photometry

2019
The Oort limit and galaxy photometry A study of the spatial distribution of stars perpendicular to the Galactic plane in 1932 of stars and their velocities resulted in an estimate of the local density. Oorti¯s wish to study the dynamics of external galaxies resulted in a few months stay of the Oorts at Perkins Observatory in Delaware, Ohio.

GASPHOT: A Tool for Automated Surface Photometry of Galaxies

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1999
We present a tool for Galaxy Automated Surface PHOTometry (GASPHOT) in deep and wide fields, presently under development at the Observatory of Padova. The performances of this tool in the case of HDF-like images are presented. For galaxies having a magnitude of 24–27, we obtained a ΔM=0.02–0.1, Δ log R e = 0.03, Δn=0.02–0.5.

CCD Photometry of HII Galaxies

1992
We report the first results of a multicolour (broad V,R,I and narrow [OIII] bands) surface photometry study of a small sample of HII galaxies.

Project for the Photometry of Clusters of Galaxies

1988
The main methods of investigating the structures of clusters of galaxies up to the present time are based on simple galaxy counts. N-body simulations of ensembles of point masses were used to explain these observations. But clusters of galaxies are not ensembles of point masses.
