Modelling the extinction properties of galaxies
Recently (Granato, Lacey, Silva et al. 2000, astro-ph/0001308) we have combined our spectrophotometric galaxy evolution code which includes dust reprocessing (GRASIL, Silva et al. 1998) with semi-analytical galaxy formation models (GALFORM, Cole et al. 1999).

Subterranean environments contribute to three‐quarters of classified ecosystem services
ABSTRACT Beneath the Earth's surface lies a network of interconnected caves, voids, and systems of fissures forming in rocks of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic origin. Although largely inaccessible to humans, this hidden realm supports and regulates services critical to ecological health and human well‐being.

Dwarf galaxies in the Dynamically Evolved NGC 1407 Group
The NGC 1407 Group stands out among nearby structures by its properties that suggest it is massive and evolved. It shares properties with entities that have been called fossil groups: the 1.4 magnitude differential between the dominant elliptical galaxy ...

X-ray Properties of Spiral Galaxies [PDF]
X-ray studies of nearby spiral galaxies with star formation allow us to investigate temperature and spatial distribution of the hot diffuse plasma, and to carry out individual and statistical studies of different classes of discrete sources (low- and high-mass X-ray binaries, Supernova remnants, supersoft and ultra-luminous sources).

The MaNGA Dwarf Galaxy Sample (MaNDala): Stellar Profiles and Gradients Characterization
We derived robust radial profiles and inner/outer gradients of various stellar population (SP) properties for a sample of 124 bright dwarf galaxies, 10 ^7.53 ≤ M _* / M _⊙ ≤ 10 ^9.06 , from the MaNDala sample, using integral field spectroscopy ...

Basal‐like breast cancer (BLBC) is aggressive and often exhibits inherent or acquired resistance to radiotherapy (RT), a primary treatment option. RT resistance is underpinned by molecular alterations, many of which are poorly understood. Here, RT‐induced transcriptomic changes were analyzed using bulk and spatial sequencing in a BLBC mouse model and ...

Internal gas inflows driven by galaxy mergers are considered to enhance star formation rates (SFRs), fuel supermassive black hole growth, and stimulate active galactic nuclei (AGNs).

Megamaser Disks Reveal a Broad Distribution of Black Hole Mass in Spiral Galaxies
We use new precision measurements of black hole masses from water megamaser disks to investigate scaling relations between macroscopic galaxy properties and supermassive black hole (BH) mass.
