Active galactic nuclei vs. host galaxy properties in the COSMOS field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Context. The coeval active galactic nuclei (AGN) and galaxy evolution and the observed local relations between super massive black holes (SMBHs) and galaxy properties suggest some sort of connection or feedback between the SMBH growth (i.e., the AGN ...

Hot Dust in Panchromatic SED Fitting: Identification of Active Galactic Nuclei and Improved Galaxy Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Forward modeling of the full galaxy SED is a powerful technique, providing self-consistent constraints on stellar ages, dust properties, and metallicities. However, the accuracy of these results is contingent on the accuracy of the model. One significant

The clustering properties of faint galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1995
The two-point angular correlation function of galaxies, \wte, has been computed from a new survey of faint galaxies covering a 2 deg$^2$ area near the North Galactic Pole. This survey, which is complete to limiting magnitudes \jmag=24 and \fmag=23, samples angular scales as large as $1\degpoint5$.

Two-phase galaxy formation: the evolutionary properties of galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2010
We use our model for the formation and evolution of galaxies within a two-phase galaxy formation scenario, showing that the high-redshift domain typically supports the growth of spheroidal systems, whereas at low redshifts the predominant baryonic growth mechanism is quiescent and may therefore support the growth of a disc structure.

COSMOS2015 photometric redshifts probe the impact of filaments on galaxy properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The variation of galaxy stellar masses and colour types with the distance to projected cosmic filaments are quantified using the precise photometric redshifts of the COSMOS2015 catalogue extracted from Cosmological Evolution Survey (COSMOS) field (2 deg ...

The VLA-COSMOS 3~GHz Large Project: AGN and host-galaxy properties out to z≲6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We explore the multiwavelength properties of AGN host galaxies for different classes of radio-selected AGN out to z ≲ 6 via a multiwavelength analysis of about 7700 radio sources in the COSMOS field.

Molecular Gas Properties on Cloud Scales across the Local Star-forming Galaxy Population [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal Letters, 2020
Using the PHANGS–ALMA CO(2–1) survey, we characterize molecular gas properties on ∼100 pc scales across 102,778 independent sightlines in 70 nearby galaxies. This yields the best synthetic view of molecular gas properties on cloud scales across the local

Modelling the extinction properties of galaxies

open access: yesAstrophysics and Space Science, 2001
Recently (Granato, Lacey, Silva et al. 2000, astro-ph/0001308) we have combined our spectrophotometric galaxy evolution code which includes dust reprocessing (GRASIL, Silva et al. 1998) with semi-analytical galaxy formation models (GALFORM, Cole et al. 1999).
