The Dependence of Dark Matter Halo Properties on the Morphology of Their Central Galaxies from Weak Lensing

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Xu & Jing reported a monotonic relationship between the host halo mass M _h and the morphology of massive central galaxies, characterized by the Sérsic index n , at fixed stellar mass, suggesting that morphology could serve as a good secondary proxy for ...

The Importance of Gas Starvation in Driving Satellite Quenching in Galaxy Groups at z ~ 0.8

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present results from a Keck/DEIMOS survey to study satellite quenching in group environments at z  ~ 0.8 within the Extended Groth Strip (EGS). We target 11 groups in the EGS with extended X-ray emission. We obtain high-quality spectroscopic redshifts

DESI Massive Poststarburst Galaxies at z ∼ 1.2 Have Compact Structures and Dense Cores

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Poststarburst galaxies (PSBs) are young quiescent galaxies that have recently experienced a rapid decrease in star formation, allowing us to probe the fast-quenching period of galaxy evolution.

The Environmental Quenching Mechanisms of Field Dwarf Galaxies

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Abstract Field dwarf galaxies not actively forming stars are relatively rare in the local Universe, but are present in cosmological hydrodynamical simulations. We use the TNG50 simulation to investigate their origin and find that they all result from environmental effects that have removed or reduced their gas content.

Two Distinct Classes of Quiescent Galaxies at Cosmic Noon Revealed by JWST PRIMER and UNCOVER

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
We present a measurement of the low-mass quiescent size–mass relation at cosmic noon (1 < z < 3) from the JWST PRIMER and UNCOVER treasury surveys, which highlights two distinct classes of quiescent galaxies.
