The Theory of Spiral Structure of Galaxies [PDF]
A Landau-type instability mechanism for generating spiral waves is suggested. Two populations of stars, Populations I and II, are considered, the second one with mean rotational velocity zero. Then a dispersion relation is derived which is reduced to the Lin-Shu dispersion relation in the case of vanishing Population II. The amplification of the wave is

Under‐display camera (UDC) enables full‐screen displays but degrades facial recognition accuracy due to diffraction‐induced distortions. This paper introduces three UDC face recognition datasets generated using a GAN trained on synthetic and real‐world images with flares.

JWST Reveals Bulge-dominated Star-forming Galaxies at Cosmic Noon
Hubble Space Telescope imaging shows that most star-forming galaxies at cosmic noon—the peak of cosmic star formation history—appear disk-dominated, leaving the origin of the dense cores in their quiescent descendants unclear.

Multidrug resistant Pseudomonas (P.) aeruginosa is detected in many infected wounds and is challenging to treat with antibiotics. As an alternative, this work incorporates anti‐P. aeruginosa Neko phages into electrospun fibres to explore their potential for treating infected wounds.

Distribution and Kinematics of Classical Cepheids in the Galactic Outer Ring
The existence of an outer ring in the Galaxy can explain the kinematics of OB associations in the Perseus and Sagittarius stellar-gas complexes. Moreover, it can also explain the orientation of the Carina arm with respect to the major axis of the bar. We

Anatomy of the Star Formation in a Tidally Disturbed Disk Galaxy: NGC 3718
We present a UV, optical, and near-IR study of the star-forming complexes in the nearby peculiar galaxy NGC 3718, using Ultraviolet Imaging telescope, Galaxy Evolution Explorer, Spitzer, and DECam Legacy Survey imaging data.

A new approach to determining the solar galactocentric distance, R0, from the geometry of spiral-arm segments is proposed. Geometric aspects of the problem are analyzed and a simplified three-point method for estimating R0 from objects in a spiral ...

Homochiral Self‐Sorting During Macrocycle Formation and their Chiroptical Properties
Imine condensation of C2‐symmetric chiral aldehydes with aliphatic amines results in 2 : 2 macrocycles lacking self‐sorting, whereas aromatic amines yield macrocycles with complete homochiral self‐sorting. These macrocycles exhibit unique chiroptical properties attributed to rigidification compared to the starting aldehydes.
