Persistence of Ancestral KhoeSan Mitochondrial Patterns in Contemporary South African Populations

open access: yesAnnals of Human Genetics, Volume 89, Issue 4, Page 195-207, July 2025.
Abstract Introduction Southern Africa has been inhabited by hunter‐gatherers for at least 20,000 years and has received diverse immigration flows in the last 2000 years. The original inhabitants have interacted with the pastoralist migrants from Eastern Africa (∼2000 ybp), followed by the southern Bantu migration arriving some 1000 ybp, and more ...

Human γδ T Cell Function Is Impaired Upon Mevalonate Pathway Inhibition

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 175, Issue 3, Page 300-322, July 2025.
Mevalonate pathway is important for the effector function of gammadelta T cells. Inhibition of the pathway in vivo and in vitro impairs cytokine and cytotoxic molecule production by mainly affecting protein prenylation and disturbing intracellular signalling in Vdelta2 T cells. Created with Biorender.

BAF60/SWP73 subunits define subclasses of SWI/SNF chromatin remodelling complexes in Arabidopsis

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 2, Page 791-812, July 2025.
Summary Evolutionarily conserved switch‐defective/sucrose nonfermentable (SWI/SNF) ATP‐dependent chromatin remodelling complexes (CRCs) alter nucleosome positioning and chromatin states, affecting gene expression to regulate important processes such as proper development and hormonal signalling pathways.

Estimation of Reconnection Rate From Soft X‐Ray Emission at the Earth's Dayside Magnetopause

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 12, 28 June 2025.
Abstract We propose an approach to estimating the reconnection rate by utilizing soft X‐rays emitted during the solar wind charge exchange (SWCX) process at the Earth's magnetopause. Employing a high‐resolution global magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation model of the magnetosphere, we investigated the SWCX emission around the magnetopause during a ...

WACCM Simulation of Polar Ozone Response to Relativistic Electron Precipitation

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 11, 16 June 2025.
Abstract Various studies have been dedicated to quantifying the atmospheric chemical effects of energetic electron precipitation (EEP), but the contribution from relativistic electron precipitation (REP) was largely overlooked. Based on the precipitating fluxes estimated from Polar‐orbiting Observational Environmental Satellites, we quantify the REP ...
