Accelerated Structural Evolution of Galaxies in a Starbursting Cluster at z = 2.51

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters, 2023
Structural properties of cluster galaxies during their peak formation epoch, z ∼ 2–4 provide key information on whether and how the environment affects galaxy formation and evolution.

266 E+A Galaxies Selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 2: The Origin of E+A Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesMon.Not.Roy.Astron.Soc. 357 (2005) 937, 2005
E+A galaxies are characterized as a galaxy with strong Balmer absorption lines but without any [OII] nor H$\alpha$ emission lines. The existence of strong Balmer absorption lines indicates that E+A galaxies have experienced starburst within recent one Gyr.

THE STRUCTURE OF 2MASS GALAXY CLUSTERS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2011
We use a sample of galaxies from the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) Extended Source Catalog to refine a matched filter method of finding galaxy clusters that takes into account each galaxy's position, magnitude, and redshift if available. The matched filter postulates a radial density profile, luminosity function, and line-of-sight velocity ...

Orbital structure of triaxial galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2004
We have developed a method to construct realistic triaxial dynamical models for elliptical galaxies, allowing us to derive best-fitting parameters, such as the mass-to-light ratio and the black hole mass, and to study the orbital structure. We use triaxial theoretical Abel models to investigate the robustness of the method.

EESSI: A cross‐platform ready‐to‐use optimised scientific software stack

open access: yesSoftware: Practice and Experience, Volume 53, Issue 1, Page 176-210, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Getting scientific software installed correctly and ensuring it performs well has been a ubiquitous problem for several decades now, which is compounded currently by the changing landscape of computational science with the (re‐)emergence of different microprocessor families, and the expansion to additional scientific domains like artificial ...

The Spiderweb galaxy: a forming massive cluster galaxy at z~2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present a deep image of the radio galaxy MRC 1138-262 taken with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) at a redshift of z = 2.2. The galaxy is known to have properties of a cD galaxy progenitor and be surrounded by a 3 Mpc-sized structure, identified with ...

A new (2+1)D cluster finding algorithm based on photometric redshifts: large scale structure in the Chandra Deep Field South [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Aims: We study galaxy clustering and explore the dependence of galaxy properties on the the environment up to a redshift z~1, on the basis of a deep multi-band survey in the Chandra Deep Field South.

The transformation of Spirals into S0 galaxies in the cluster environment

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2015
We discuss the observational evidences of the morphological transformation of Spirals into S0 galaxies in the cluster environment exploiting two big databases of galaxy clusters: WINGS (0 ...

A Multiwavelength Investigation of Dust and Stellar Mass Distributions in Galaxies: Insights from High-resolution JWST Imaging

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We study the morphological properties of mid-infrared selected galaxies at 1.0 < z < 1.7 in the SMACS J0723.3-7327 cluster field to investigate the mechanisms of galaxy mass assembly and structural formation at cosmic noon.
