Abstract From the earliest moments in their lives, infants begin to build memories about their past and accumulate knowledge about the world. In this article, we focus on the distinction between memory for specific events and memory for general information, and the ongoing debate about which type of memory provides the foundation for the development of

In the Words of Others: ERP Evidence of Speaker‐Specific Phonological Prediction

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 62, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Prediction models usually assume that highly constraining contexts allow the pre‐activation of phonological information. However, the evidence for phonological prediction is mixed and controversial. In this study, we implement a paradigm that capitalizes on the phonological errors produced by L2 speakers to investigate whether specific ...

Effects of Hydrological and Catchment Biophysical Factors on Baseflow Dynamics in Two Neighbouring Micro‐Catchments of the Andean Ecosystems

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2025.
While the convergence of the flow duration curve indicates similar behaviour as baseflow decreases, Shigual can sustain slightly higher minimum flows during extremely dry periods compared to Anduy. The mean baseflow indices of both catchments are similar, but Anduy faced a sharp baseflow recession, whereas Shigual exhibited a more stable baseflow ...

The Carbon Budget of Land Conversion: Sugarcane Expansion and Implications for a Sustainable Bioenergy Landscape in Southeastern United States

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 17, Issue 7, July 2025.
Sugarcane is poised to become a key bioenergy crop in the Southeastern United States, where its expansion may replace pasturelands. Our findings show that such land‐use transitions may incur significant carbon losses—beyond harvest or fire removals—led by rapid mineralization of legacy biomass and soil carbon upon conversion.
