Single Step Galerkin Approximations for Parabolic Problems [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 1977
In this paper we construct and analyze classes of single step methods of arbitrary order for homogeneous linear initial boundary value problems for parabolic equations with time-independent coefficients. The spatial discretization is done by means of general Galerkin-type methods.

The Improved Element-Free Galerkin Method for 3D Steady Convection-Diffusion-Reaction Problems with Variable Coefficients

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
In order to obtain the numerical results of 3D convection-diffusion-reaction problems with variable coefficients efficiently, we select the improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method instead of the traditional element-free Galerkin (EFG) method by ...

Global well-posedness of solutions to a class of heat equation under dynamical type boundary conditions [PDF]

open access: yesArab Journal of Mathematical Sciences
PurposeBy employing the Galerkin approximation and a family of potential wells, we establish the existence of a global solution and finite-time blow-up under certain suitable conditions. Additionally, we provide results concerning the asymptotic behavior

Exact controllability of Galerkin’s approximations of micropolar fluids [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2009
We consider the nonlinear model describing micropolar fluid in a bounded smooth region of R N ( N = 2 , 3 ) \mathbb {R}^{N} (N=2,3) with distributed controls supported in small subset of this domain.

A New Legendre Spectral Galerkin and Pseudo-Spectral Approximations for Fractional Initial Value Problems

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
We extend the application of the Galerkin method for treating the multiterm fractional differential equations (FDEs) subject to initial conditions. A new shifted Legendre-Galerkin basis is constructed which satisfies exactly the homogeneous initial ...

Galerkin approximations for the optimal control of nonlinear delay differential equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Optimal control problems of nonlinear delay differential equations (DDEs) are considered for which we propose a general Galerkin approximation scheme built from Koornwinder polynomials.

Numerical Solution of the Convective and Diffusive Transport Problems in a Heterogeneous Porous Medium Using Finite Element Method [PDF]

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2016
The finite element approximation of the convective and diffusive transport equation has been considered. Different methods for stabilization of the finite element approximation have been discussed: upwind approximation of the convective term using ...

A New Wavelet Method for Solving a Class of Nonlinear Volterra-Fredholm Integral Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
A new approach, Coiflet-type wavelet Galerkin method, is proposed for numerically solving the Volterra-Fredholm integral equations. Based on the Coiflet-type wavelet approximation scheme, arbitrary nonlinear term of the unknown function in an equation ...

The Improved Element-Free Galerkin Method for 3D Helmholtz Equations

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The improved element-free Galerkin (IEFG) method is proposed in this paper for solving 3D Helmholtz equations. The improved moving least-squares (IMLS) approximation is used to establish the trial function, and the penalty technique is used to enforce ...
