On Gakerkin approximations for the surface-active quasigeostrophic equations
We study the representation of solutions of the three-dimensional quasigeostrophic (QG) equations using Galerkin series with standard vertical modes, with particular attention to the incorporation of active surface buoyancy dynamics.

In this study, we investigate the upper- and lower-bound approximations of numerical eigenvalues derived by weak Galerkin spectral element methods on arbitrary convex quadrilateral meshes for the Laplace eigenvalue problem.

We develop a generalized Jacobi-Galerkin method for second kind Volterra integral equations with weakly singular kernels. In this method, we first introduce some known singular nonpolynomial functions in the approximation space of the conventional Jacobi-

A Galerkin boundary element method for high frequency scattering by convex polygons [PDF]
In this paper we consider the problem of time-harmonic acoustic scattering in two dimensions by convex polygons. Standard boundary or finite element methods for acoustic scattering problems have a computational cost that grows at least linearly as a ...

Combining the DPG method with finite elements
We propose and analyze a discretization scheme that combines the discontinuous Petrov-Galerkin and finite element methods. The underlying model problem is of general diffusion-advection-reaction type on bounded domains, with decomposition into two sub ...

Discontinuous Galerkin approximations in computational mechanics: hybridization, exact geometry and degree adaptivity [PDF]
Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) discretizations with exact representation of the geometry and local polynomial degree adaptivity are revisited. Hybridization techniques are employed to reduce the computational cost of DG approximations and devise the ...

Approximating Stochastic Evolution Equations with Additive White and Rough Noises
In this paper, we analyze Galerkin approximations for stochastic evolution equations driven by an additive Gaussian noise which is temporally white and spatially fractional with Hurst index less than or equal to $1/2$.

In the process of water‐soluble cavern construction of salt cavern energy storage, since the interlayer does not dissolve in water easily, sudden collapse will cause engineering accidents such as bending and damage of the inner tube of the cavern.

Bayesian linear inverse problems in regularity scales
We obtain rates of contraction of posterior distributions in inverse problems defined by scales of smoothness classes. We derive abstract results for general priors, with contraction rates determined by Galerkin approximation.
