Anseriform and Galliform Therapeutics
Veterinary Clinics of North America: Exotic Animal Practice, 2000This article provides the reader with an overview of the therapeutic options for members of the orders Anseriformes and Galliformes. These orders make up a large variety of nonpsittacine birds that are seen in veterinary practice or in zoos and private collections. Standard therapeutics are discussed as well as recently developed protocols.

Effect of Tannins on Galliform Cecal Partitioning
Physiological Zoology, 1997Winter diets of ruffed grouse (Bonasa umbellus) and other galliformes are high in tannins. We fed quebracho, a condensed tannin, to ruffed grouse and found no effect on dry matter intake or body mass at levels up to 6% of the diet. However, a high-fiber diet with 8% quebracho resulted in reduced dry matter intake and body mass loss.

Filling and emptying of the galliform caecum
Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1974The movement of a barium meal was traced through the gastrointestinal tract of a Japanese quail by means of X-ray contrast photography. Peristaltic movements were recorded in the small and large intestine, and antiperistaltic movements were recorded in the large intestine and the caeca.

The same type of the brachial plexus quantitative composition was determined in five Galliform.es species. Cranial displacement of the plexus and its axial segment along the spine was found in Phasianus colchicus, Perdix perdix and Coturnix coturnix. N. supracoracoideus, n. scapulo-humeralis and n.

Synthesizing Feather Textures in Galliformes
Computer Graphics Forum, 1995AbstractThe texture of feather is one of the most fascinating, complicated, and beautiful texture patterns in nature. In this paper, we propose a new and effective texture generation approach that uses the traits of iteration behavior to synthesize the textures of Galliformes feathers realistically.

α-Crystallin Sequences Support a Galliform/Anseriform Clade
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 1997An unresolved issue in higher avian systematics is the position of the fowl-like and the duck-like birds, Galliformes and Anseriformes, respectively. Most studies place these orders at the base of the neognath radiation. While DNA hybridization data support a sister-group relationship of Galliformes and Anseriformes, macromolecular sequence analyses ...

Eye morphology and the retinal topography of animals that live in either 'open' (e.g., grassland) or 'enclosed' (e.g., forest) terrestrial habitats show common adaptations to constraints imposed by these different habitat types. Although relationships between habitat and the visual system are well documented in most vertebrates, relatively few studies ...
