Trajectory Optimization Through Contacts and Automatic Gait Discovery for Quadrupeds

open access: yes, 2016
In this work we present a trajectory Optimization framework for whole-body motion planning through contacts. We demonstrate how the proposed approach can be applied to automatically discover different gaits and dynamic motions on a quadruped robot.

Morphological variation in atlas and axis of Neotropical spiny rats (Rodentia, Echimyidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The unique morphologies of the first two cervical vertebrae, the atlas and axis, represent a significant innovation in mammalian evolution. These structures support the weight of the head and enable intricate movements of the head and neck.

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

Equation of motion of split conductor of anchor section at icing in wind flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Renewable Energy Development
The relevance of the examined problem is connected with the necessity to develop measures to combat conductor galloping and the design of power transmission lines (ETL).

Anti-galloping Effect of the Catenary Positive Feeder Air Flow Spoiler in Strong Wind Areas of Lanzhou–Urumqi High-speed Railway

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering, 2022
To prevent the catenary positive feeder of Lanzhou–Urumqi High-speed Railway from violent galloping under strong wind, The aerodynamic characteristics of different phases of composite cross-sections formed after an air flow spoiler was installed on the ...

Influence of morning maternal care on the behavioural responses of 8-week-old Beagle puppies to new environmental and social stimuli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In mammals, maternal care represents a major constituent of the early-life environment and its influence on individual development has been documented in rodents, non-human primates, humans and recently in adult dogs.

Use of Restricted Nursing and a Bovine Appeasing Substance on the Welfare, Growth Performance, and Response to Vaccination of Beef Calves at Weaning

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
The effects of restricted nursing (RN) and the administration of a bovine appeasing substance (BAS) on days −8 and 0 in relation to weaning were evaluated. Both strategies were effective in improving the growth performance of beef calves. Regarding welfare, BAS ‐especially on day 0‐ was more effective than RN.

Study on Galloping Oscillation of Iced Twin Bundle Conductors considering the Effects of Variation of Aerodynamic and Electromagnetic Forces

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2020
Due to the occurrence of whole-span and subspan vibration at the same time during the galloping of the iced bundle conductors, the distance between the subconductors changes, resulting in the variation of the aerodynamic parameters for the leeward ...

Perceptual bistability in auditory streaming: how much do stimulus features matter? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The auditory two-tone streaming paradigm has been used extensively to study the mechanisms that underlie the decomposition of the auditory input into coherent sound sequences.
