Live Imaging of Silver Nanostructures Electrochemically Dissolving at Open‐Circuit Potential

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Stability of electrocatalysts as used in energy conversion systems is pivotal for sustainable technologies, yet degradation dynamics at the nanoscale remain elusive. Harnessing beam‐effect corrected electrochemical liquid phase electron microscopy combined with correlative bulk‐scale electrochemical testing reveals silver corrosion on platinum under ...

Silver-base ternary alloy proves superior for slip ring lead wires [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Slip ring lead wires composed of ternary alloys of silver, have high electrical conductivity, a tensile strength of at least 30,000 psi, high ductility, and are solderable and weldable.

Enhanced Interfacial Stability and Reaction Kinetics Through Solvation Engineering and Water‐Induced Hydrolysis in Zinc Metal Batteries

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
An ether‐based high‐entropy electrolyte is prepared by mixing multiple ether solvents, an F‐rich ether, and co‐solvent H2O. The diversity of solvent species enhances the solvation entropy and accelerates reaction kinetics. Additionally, the electrolysis and hydrolysis of solvents and salts yield a uniform ZnF2 interfacial layer to protect the electrode

A Finite Element Model of Transient Galvanic Corrosion Behaviour of Aluminium Alloy

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances
The environment in which aircraft are used is very complex, and factors such as high salinity, high humidity atmospheric conditions and mechanical loads applied to the aircraft during flight can lead to damage to the fuselage materials and compromise the

Numerical Prediction of Deformation‐Induced Martensitic Transformation in Cold‐Sprayed Austenitic Stainless Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Cold spray deposition of stainless steel (grade: SS304) is evaluated for marine applications, with emphasis on martensitic transformation during impact. Analytical modeling, simulations, and experiments reveal that helium‐assisted spraying of fine powders promotes cooling below the martensitic start temperature, enabling up to ≈40% austenite to ...

Friction and wear of iron in sulfuric acid [PDF]

open access: yes
Elemental iron sliding on aluminum oxide in aerated sulfuric acid concentrations ranging from very dilute (0.000007 N; i.e., 4 ppm) to very concentrated (96 percent acid) was studied. Load and reciprocating sliding speeds were kept constant.

Influence of Heat Treatment Temperature on Crevice and Pitting Corrosion of UNS S32205 Duplex Stainless Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Heat treatments that alter the proportions of austenite and ferrite phases or induce the precipitation of phases such as sigma in duplex stainless steel UNS S32205 make it more susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion. However, the effects of these treatments are not always evident when analyzed using the cyclic polarization technique.
