Abstract Reinforced concrete (RC) beams can be subjected to torsion, and failure due to torsion is brittle and poses a significant risk to occupants. Moreover, strengthening of existing RC beams in torsion may be required due to the upgrade of the structures or as part of structural rehabilitation.

Abstract This study introduces an innovative approach to strengthening defected reinforced concrete (RC) columns using externally bonded stainless steel and galvanized steel plates. Unlike conventional strengthening methods, this technique replaces traditional transverse stirrups with steel sheets, providing enhanced confinement and ductility.

Protection of steel hooks embedded in glass-fiber-reinforced concrete against macrocell corrosion

This study evaluated the corrosion behavior of steel hooks embedded in GFRC, which were protected by a zinc-rich (96% Zn) galvanizing coating. The coating provided the hooks with active cathodic protection and a passive physical shield.
