Wind tunnel test study on the erosion wear of galvanized coatings on steel members under wind-blown-sand two-phase flow

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Pieces of galvanized steel angle, steel tube, and steel plate were made into test specimens, and then a uniform wind-sand flow field was formed in a reflux wind tunnel to simulate the environment of strong wind-sand areas. Through the wind tunnel testing,

Experimental tests on slip factor in friction joints: Comparison between european and American standards [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Friction joints are used in steel structures submitted to cyclic loading such as, for example, in steel and composite bridges, in overhead cranes, and in equipment subjected to fatigue. Slip-critical steel joints with preloaded bolts are characterized by

Can Environmental Markets Pay for More Sustainable Farm Dams? A Cost–Benefit Analysis

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Farm dams are widespread artificial waterbodies that play a critical role in agricultural water security. Enhancing these systems through sustainable interventions such as fencing, hardened access points, and revegetation can improve water quality and deliver carbon and biodiversity co‐benefits.

PREDICTION THE THICKNESS LAYER OF GALVANIZED IRAQI ELECTRICAL POLES USING MATHEMATICAL MODEL

open access: yesDiyala Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2015
Galvanized steel has a long history as an effective and economical material for manufacturing electrical poles. Galvanized steel consists of a thin coating of zinc fused to a steel substrate. This combination provides the pole high mechanical properties

Effect of Double Annealing on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Medium Manganese Steel

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A double intercritical annealing strategy is proposed to tailor the multiphase microstructure and mechanical response of a medium‐Mn steel. The treatment produces an ultrafine mixture of ferrite, martensite and multiple austenite populations with graded thermal and mechanical stability, formed through austenite reversion and controlled retransformation.

Performance analysis of strengthening reinforced concrete beams under pure torsion using galvanized steel sheets: Experimental and numerical investigation

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract Reinforced concrete (RC) beams can be subjected to torsion, and failure due to torsion is brittle and poses a significant risk to occupants. Moreover, strengthening of existing RC beams in torsion may be required due to the upgrade of the structures or as part of structural rehabilitation.

Modelling of bond between galvanized steel rebars and concrete [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In reinforced concrete structures, it is extremely difficult to ensure that steel bars will be not subject, either in a lower or higher extent, to the corrosion effect.

Performance enhancement of reinforced concrete columns using stainless steel and galvanized steel plates: Experimental and numerical investigation

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract This study introduces an innovative approach to strengthening defected reinforced concrete (RC) columns using externally bonded stainless steel and galvanized steel plates. Unlike conventional strengthening methods, this technique replaces traditional transverse stirrups with steel sheets, providing enhanced confinement and ductility.
