Statistical Downscaling of Daily Temperature and Precipitation From Regional Climate Models in Complex Mountain Terrain

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
The study provides insights for post‐processing climate model output in complex terrain, useful for climate change impact models. We compared different bias adjustment and downscaling techniques from quantile delta mapping to simple lapse rates. We developed a new spatial downscaling method based on principal components analysis, which showed superior ...

The CRISPR-Cas9 System in Entamoeba histolytica Trophozoites: ehcp112 Gene Knockout and Effects on Other Genes in the V1 Virulence Locus

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Gene editing enables a better understanding of protein functions. The genome of the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica contains a 4500 bp DNA fragment comprising the ehcp112, ehadh, and ehrabb genes, which together form the V1 virulence locus ...

gam n [PDF]

open access: yes
gamMining techniques used in Tilt Cove closely resembled those of the Cornish mines and were practised in subsequent Notre Dame Bay copper mines. Three men drilled explosive holes: one held a steel bar or 'gam' while two others alternately hammered the ...

Oxygen transmission rate in American oak barrel staves used for wine aging: Influence of wood macrostructure

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Oak barrels are widely used in wine and spirit aging, where oxygen transmission plays a key role in the development of chemical and sensory properties. In cooperage, stave selection is traditionally based on grain width; however, the extent to which grain and wood macrostructure determine oxygen transmission under barrel conditions ...

Seabird population responses after the removal of an introduced predator

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We studied the response of a breeding population of seabirds (pigeon guillemots) to the removal of an introduced population of predators (American mink) from an archipelago that was formerly the largest aggregation of nesting guillemots in Prince William Sound, Alaska.

Microwave‐Assisted Green Synthesis of CuO Nanoparticles Using Myrciaria Dubia Extract for Efficient Solar‐Light‐Driven Photocatalytic Degradation of Methylene Blue

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Kinetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study reports a microwave‐assisted biogenic route for synthesizing CuO nanoparticles using Myrciaria dubia (camu camu) fruit extract under three microwave power–time programs: 700 W for 30 s (M1), 350 W for 60 s (M2), and 150 W for 300 s (M3).

Joint and Independent Associations of Dietary Antioxidant Intakes With Advanced Stages in Older Patients With Cardiovascular‐Kidney‐Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored the association between the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) and cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) progression in an older population. Using data from NHANES 2001–2020, we analyzed 4974 adults aged ≥ 60 years with CKM syndrome. The CDAI was calculated from the intake of six dietary antioxidants.

Wheat Sowing Practices in No‐Tillage Systems Modify the Microrelief and Hydrosedimentological Attributes: RPAS‐Based Photogrammetry

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The microtopographic characteristics of terrain are modified by soil management and conservation practices, affecting water infiltration, storage, runoff generation, and sediment transport. However, assessing soil microtopography at representative spatial scales remains challenging and time‐consuming.
