Methods for evaluating games

Proceedings of the international conference on Advances in computer entertainment technology, 2007
This workshop addresses current needs in the games developers' community and games industry to evaluate the overall user experience of games. New forms of interaction techniques, like gestures, eye-tracking or even bio-physiological input and feedback present the limits of current evaluation methods for user experience, and even standard usability ...

Evaluation of Game Tree Search Methods by Game Records

IEEE Transactions on Computational Intelligence and AI in Games, 2010
This paper presents a method of evaluating game tree search methods including standard min-max search with heuristic evaluation functions and Monte Carlo tree search, which recently achieved drastic improvements in the strength of Computer Go programs.

Development of game testing method for measuring game quality

2014 International Conference on Data and Software Engineering (ICODSE), 2014
The quality of game is one of the factors that may stop the release of a game. Game testing can be used to measure the game quality. Unfortunately, most game testing use user-centric approach to test the quality of the game. In this paper, we propose a game testing method, which is developed from the existing game testing approach supplemented with ...

Water simulation methods for games

Proceeding of the 16th International Academic MindTrek Conference, 2012
Physics engines have created a whole new source of emergence and fun for digital games. Water simulation could add another similar emergent interaction element, but it is currently only rarely used as a part of gameplay. The reasons for this are analysed and different water simulation methods are compared, focusing on actual game usage.

Assessment methods on serious games

International Journal of Innovation in Education, 2019
Digital games have conquered a growing space in the lives of children, adolescents and adults. In this perspective, the use of this resource has shown to be an important strategy that facilitates the learning process. This research is a literature review on the use of serious games in teaching, which shows the characteristics of these games, the ...

Some special games and methods

1985
In the previous chapter we dealt with methods capable of solving arbitrary matrix games. In practice, however, we often come across games having some special features enabling us to use simpler methods to solve them and/or their size can be considerably reduced. Thereby they are more amenable to numerical treatment.

Games and Online Research Methods

2017
In this chapter we have introduced research in, on, and using games to non-game researchers. Gaming is very much a social activity, or as Huizinga (1938/1955) would call it, the essence of being human. Computer gaming is part of that. It is part of social life and may form or reinforce existing ties.

Idempotent method for deception games

Proceedings of the 2011 American Control Conference, 2011
In recent years, idempotent methods (specifically, max-plus methods) have been developed for solution of nonlinear control problems. We extend the applicability of idempotent methods to deterministic dynamic games through usage of the min-max distributive property. However, this induces a very high curse-of-complexity.
