Compatibility of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH)/EVA films with gamma, electron-beam, and X-ray irradiation

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation, 2023
Many polymer-based medical devices are sterilized by gamma irradiation. To reduce the use of cobalt-60 gamma-ray sources, transition from gamma ray to alternative irradiation technologies was proposed, namely electron beam (e-beam) and X-ray.

Pulsar Wind Nebulae in EGRET Error Boxes

open access: yes, 2004
A remarkable number of pulsar wind nebulae (PWN) are coincident with EGRET gamma-ray sources. X-ray and radio imaging studies of unidentified EGRET sources have resulted in the discovery of at least 6 new pulsar wind nebulae (PWN).

Monitoring the Low-Energy Gamma-Ray Sky Using Earth Occultation with GLAST GBM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Long term all-sky monitoring of the 20 keV – 2 MeV gamma-ray sky using the Earth occultation technique was demonstrated by the BATSE instrument on the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory.

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

A Unified Model of Kilonovae and Gamma-Ray Bursts in Binary Mergers Establishes Neutron Stars as the Central Engines of Short GRBs

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We expand the theoretical framework by O. Gottlieb et al., which connects binary merger populations with long and short binary gamma-ray bursts (lbGRBs and sbGRBs, respectively), incorporating kilonovae (KNe) as a key diagnostic tool. We show that lbGRBs,

Multifrequency Strategies for the Identification of Gamma-Ray Sources

open access: yes, 2004
More than half the sources in the Third EGRET (3EG) catalog have no firmly established counterparts at other wavelengths and are unidentified. Some of these unidentified sources have remained a mystery since the first surveys of the gamma-ray sky with ...

Gamma-ray sources like V407 Cygni in symbiotic stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Using a simple accelerating model and an assumption that gamma-rays originate from p-p collisions for a pi(0) model, we investigate gamma-ray sources like V407 Cygni in symbiotic stars.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

The Radio Flare and Multiwavelength Afterglow of the Short GRB 231117A: Energy Injection from a Violent Shell Collision

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present the early radio detection and multiwavelength modeling of the short gamma-ray burst (GRB) 231117A at redshift z = 0.257. The Australia Telescope Compact Array automatically triggered a 9 hr observation of GRB 231117A at 5.5 and 9 GHz following
